sorry but need to hitch a ride.... i was told by fellow reefers tat we need to feed prawns to anemone twice a week. i noticed tat the hammer coral also has an opening in the centre by do not know whether it is a mouth or not.... do i need to feed hammer corals like i feed anemone??? thanks

hi all, as noted my anemone became shredded meat when it got sucked up my PH. the whole tank turned milky and ammonia spike came in.....2 damsels got knock out and nvr came back... 2 clowns survive with 1 damsel....my cauliflower also weakened but dunno whether it is due to the ammonia spike. i did a 50% water change. and now waiting for watever is to happen.... very demoralised.... but still keen on doing wat i can....pls advise me on wat other things i can do to prevent any deaths in my tank....or wat symtoms i should keep track of.....

hey bro...actually 28degreeC is still acceptable. but if can get it lower, y not? if your corals are not doing well...get a fan pls....the corals will die if u dun... wat kind of lights are u using? fan should be good enuf for pl and t5. as for MH, good luck, maybe i can go and haf bbq fish?? get the diy computer fan or ready-made clip on fan sold in almost all LFS... go to yishun central, buy the one that costs $28. i m using it with my pl lights for my 3ft tank...temperature at 26-27degreeC... if your tank is bigger than 3ft then i suggest you get 2 fans...or even the "6 fan combo" by ocean-free....

feed??? how to feed? i only haf a bottle of coral feeds(liquid form)....how do i feed anemone manually? wat kind of food?

hi bros..... i juz got myself a green tip anemone last friday.... wherever i put it, it will always go into hiding....i heard from fellow reefers saying "juz leave it alone until it finds a suitable place" but it seems to be always playing hide and seek with me.it prefers to hide inside the liverocks and most of the time upside down.but the funnie thing is it will fully open up whenever it finds a hiding spot. i've tried so many times trying to correct it but to no avail, it will soon hide in some dark cave again.... my pink tipped anemone is doing very well, situates itself at the top of the mountain, so i think there's no prob with my water parameters.my other mushrooms, buttons and cauliflower are all doing fine..... very angry with tat idiot, dunno wat to do...pls advise....

a bit off topic but juz wanna ask if the mushroom will recover after the "intestinal effect"? coz mine happened the same fate and i juz chipped the few pieces away....

no leh, 1 return pump and 1 skimmer pump?? i tot quite standard...oh yah i juz added another pump for current in the main tank...but the temperature was already 30 degree C before i added the latest pump....still thinking of ways to reduce temperature....

not very good but juz trying...... i dun think its good to keep to many fishes with lions 1) the lion might eat them up 2) lion (other than when they are feeding) are very slow moving, dun think they will like too many fishes swerving in its direction. read from somewhere, triggers are NO NO for lions....triggers are very aggressive, they will disturb the lions.

i'm using a clip-on fan, slightly bigger than a computer fan, bought in LFS.it actually helps to bring down the temperature by 3-4 degree C. i point it directly at the surface of my main tank about 3inches away from the surface.cheap and good, but i need to top up. about 3-4ltr more water compared to no fan.i dunno why but my temperature is always @ 30degree C(day or nite) without fan, so if no fan is included, i probably haf steamed fish after a hot afternoon with my lights on.

hey bro, i've ran my ANN cycle for merely 1week in my 3 ft tank with 5inch DBS and about 20kg of LR. all the sand and LR are bought second hand which means they should be filled with lotsa bacteria. i put a market prawn into the water to rot. since last sat, the ammonia alert never went past ALARM before. only reached ALARM and stayed there since Day 1. there are 4 stages of the ammonia alert. 1)SAFE 2)ALERT 3)ALARM 4)TOXIC last nite, the ammonia alert has drop to the safe zone liao...does that mean i can start putting in my LS? but 1week seems v short rite? then again, not forgetting my sand and rocks(all 2nd hand) are already filled with bacteria liao. maybe shall buy some test kit for ammonia and nitrite, i already have the one for nitrate. wat about PH and KH, really necessary? and wat other important water parameters should i take notice? after testing the water parameters, i will do a 50% water change as recommended by most. then test my parameters again. sound good? any advise?
