  1. hi all, need help on the above....anyone knows which LFS has the widest range of pumps and equipments? need to choose pumps for my DIY project..thanks...
  2. hey bros, need to know exactly where to get clear acrylic pipes (6inches wide) for my upcoming Project DOC....anyone can tell me where to find it? i know Ubi has it but i dunno the exact location.... thanks
  3. helloooo..... anybody wants it?? collection at woodlands, can bring to clementi on mon,wed and thurs....
  4. remove the bio ball and create a refugium to curb NO3...by using bio-balls,NO3 will build-up... try to have a DSB in the main tank,i think your plenum is good enuf...have lot of microalgae in your refugium too....
  5. y not deploy a DSB in the sump too??helps to clear more nitrate too...i hear using coral chips as a form of filtration creates nitrate build-up...seriuosly, i'm not too sure too..hehehehe...
  6. i would suggest that u use grade 10 coral chips rite at the bottom, cover it with a netting then add on grade 1-2 sand, cover with netting again and lastly grade 0 sand..try 2 inches on each layer...should do it...
  7. hair algae grow because of high nitrate and phos...try using phosguard or similar product like rosphos...and reduce lighting might help also...as of nitrate, do frequent water change.
  8. and also...try to use a drip or auto top-up...by topping up manually every 2 days will drastically change the salinity of the water...u might wanna try to top up everyday?as for me i use a fan to cool the water so i use a drip to control the evaporation...and ideally the water needs to be left overnite, to clear away the chlorine... by adding 5.5ltr of water every 2 days might change the salinity and the PH too drastically....i usually top-up with water mix with Kalwasser(to maintain PH) and a little bit (really a little bit) of marine salt(to compensate the salt spray).
  9. by topping up water is insufficient to haf sufficient trace element(i think)...try using some additive...even if changing water i personally feel its not sufficient also... as for maintaining PO4...change of water regularly is important unless u haf phosguard or similar products....PO4 give rise to hair algae, very ugly...i change 1 pail of water every week...about 5-10% of tank volume...so far so good..but its juz my personal opinion...
  10. hey bro, i'll take everything....but u can keep the anemone unless it is a rock anemone...maybe u can gif me a bit of discount??maybe like $45??
  11. hey bro, y not try to remove the venturi and inject the water inlet directly...add a air pipe to the water inlet of the pump and let the impeller chop the air...the bubble should be find enough if your propeller has 5 or more blades....if not can DIY a needle wheel...pic as below....
  12. hey all, i have 3 damsels to give away... 1) yellow tail damsel 2) black damsel with 1 dot on the top and 2 dots on the side (dunno the name) 3) black and white stripe damsel still very small and healthy, no disease at all (i think) heheheeh...giving away because they are too fierce...wasn't used for cycling (i'm not the irresponsible kind), was bought coz i find them cute, but saw them chasing after my fire goby and biting them....so have to give away.... pls sms or call me @ 9002 4001, robin here...dun PM cos i am not always online....thanks.. no picture, they are the usual ones that u see in LFS....very small i think should be at most 1inch
  13. wat kind of pump u using?? the pump looks powerful
  14. look at this original H&S...it is a in-sump kind, i think...if your sump can accomadate your skimmer, then its more advisable...building a out-of-sump kind, u need to use a lot of elbows which will decrease the flowrate of the pump and in turn reduce the amount of air-intake....juz abit of my experience from my FAILED DIY H&S....
  15. bro, need to check with u...if the water going to be pumped in like as shown? if it is i suggest not...the air intake should be suck in by the pump, chop by the impeller (propeller) and release back into your skimmer....
  16. hey bro, the venturi part can be simplified....attached is an example of my venturi...although ultimately my skimmer didn't work but my venturi did a very good job
  17. it looks a bit like hair algae....i heard that it feeds on phosphate, so try to get phosguard, might help
  18. hhhmmm....beneficial? u mean like it help to clear nitrate and wat else huh?? pls advise...
  19. hey bro, how much did u buy your H&S at??wat kinda pump is it running on??1 or 2 pumps??got pic to show how it looks like??
  20. hey bro, how much did u buy your H&S at??wat kinda pump is it running on??1 or 2 pumps??
  21. yup, i think bro Kalib is correct...by adding too much too fast will create water parameter inbalance...perhaps by the time u check the cycle had already completed..try adding 1 LS per week. someone even suggested before to add 1 LS per month, u might wanna try by i think your eagerness should definitely overcome your patience, juz like me..
  22. hey mark, i dont wanna disturb u all the time mah....very paiseh, always call u up to ask about my tank....that's y i posted online to seek help and advise....anyway, i need a pic to describe better also....hehehehe....tell me lah.....thanks
