  1. i have two kids and a dog, travel for business at least 2/3 times in a month, still i do find time for reefing. the force is very strong, cannot resist.
  2. Hi, Have anyone kept grapes algae in sump/ref successfully to provide a chronic supply of food source for your tangs? Mine not doing well while red bamboo is okay.
  3. i have some chaeto to spare if u want, west side
  4. compressor is more energy efficient in the long run, my 1hp daikin takes 2mins and 30secs to bring temperature down by 0.1 deg, doesnt kick in that often also. Plus it is housed in the air con ledge, thus in the living room, there is no noise and heat.
  5. distilled are free or has minimum dissolved solids/minerals in them, while drinking water has minerals added for drinking. use only distilled water which states nothing added in the label.
  6. Hi what is this in middle of pic?
  7. U like the ZF 21mm lens also? R u a Nikon or canon user? It's a bit tough to fight refraction and the LED spread.
  8. Who has a long tele lens for nikon to lend?
  9. My Benny is 100% reef safe, never seen it disturb the corals
  10. Camera is very good enough, just need a good tele lens. (Using D800e w tamron 75mm) All pictures are cropped from a bigger picture btw.
  11. Just to share my 1st time trying to take photos on my DSLR of my 5' marine world at home.
  12. i used to have that in the initial stage in the ref. yes you need to remove the red slime algae, else they will take over your ref, worst scenario spread to DT. suggest you clean them off and turn off the ref lights for two/three days.
  13. invest in a refractometer, no expensive if you consider the long term benefits
  14. how long is your tank? what are your water parameters and reading on the big 3s (ca, kh, mg) also No3 and Po4. Lastly, where are the corals placed? lighting? water flow rate?
  15. get more cleaning crew, reduce lighting period to 8-10hrs, weekly wc, problem should go away really soon. part and parcel of a new tank setup (<6 mths old)
  16. do you have bare bottom or sandy bottom? if you have sand, the cloudy is due to the sand particles in the water column. should go away within 48hrs.
  17. i do run chaeto and bio pellets at the same time, I have quite a number of fishes, thus bio-load is pretty high (thanks to the 4 tangs I have). So far No3 is zero (though heavy feeding) and chaeto is growing like mad (need to harvest at least once every fortnight). I have a lot of pods in my ref which will overflow to return pump and pods will end up in DT, plenty of food for my mandarin. Well, at least I do see my mandarin is fatter than before and very happy.
  18. to help keep them busy, you can drive them to my place everyday for 10% WC for my tank
