Lol alternatives, but in terms of convenience best stick to a ready made one, cheapest should go for around 200 plus brand new, if second hand can be even cheaper!

Welcome to the hobby =)

If your canister filter is strong enough it would be powerful enough to push the water out, look at the specs of your filter online (model numer etc) then compare it to the recommended flow rate of your chiller, if its not powerful enough then you might have to invest in an external one hope it helps

Yeah agreed, at 5mm it might not take the rigors of marine tank upkeep
