  1. Fishes, I feed once a day with pellets, and 2-3 times a week with Mysis. Corals, I tried feeding hammer and Octo with Mysis, but I don't see them feed. That's why I tried Reef Rod and Phytoplankton. But now I stopped Reef Rod & Phytoplankton.
  2. Mine reef rod and phytoplankton not expired.
  3. Bro, I had similar experience as you. Some time back, I was feeding my tank a mixture of poly lab reef rod and phytoplankton about one/twice a week. All I had in tank at that time was, a couple of clowns, hammer, octo coral, zoas, yuma-mushrooms, jewel/gonio and a xenia frag. The next day after feedings, my mushrooms would shrink and spew black stuff out from it mouth. I thought it may be just expelling excessive waste due to the rich feeding, so I just continued the practise. However, 2-3 weeks of feeding later, I lost my hammer, followed by octo then jewel and lastly the xenia, all died in a span of less than 2 weeks. I do not know if it was the feeding, or something else. But I just stop feeding the reef rod & phytoplankton mixture since.
  4. If water flows from Tank 1 into Tank 2, and then from Tank 2 into Chiller, and then from Chiller back into Tank 1. Technically speaking, in this set up, Tank 1 will experience a lower temperature than Tank 2. Temperature difference between tanks would depend on tank size, temp setting & ambient temperature.
  5. Should plan & think carefully before starting. This hobby does not just require money & time, but it also requires responsibility. These are after-all lifes that are in your hands. Be it a $1 fish or $100 fish, it is still a life and should be well taken care of, should you decide to start the hobby. Reef safe, reef happy
  6. If its a linked tank, then won't the temperature in the first tank be lower than the 2nd tank? It could be significantly lower depending on tank size and chiller power.
  7. Agree, I think for small tanks don't really need skimmer. Water changes would suffice. Did you acclimatise the fishes before releasing into DT?
  8. Hi Bro, don't use anything to wipe its eyes. I think should just let it clear by itself. Try to entice it to feed. Good luck and hope it gets well soon.
  9. As already mentioned by bro liquidnoise, there can be many reasons why the coral behave as such. If it is due to water condition and placement, you just have to correct it. If its due to irritation by other inhabitants, maybe you can try relocate or isolate it, till it recovers and all inhabitants get accustomed to each other. If it is due to acclimatization not proper, then I guess nothing much you can do now, but just wait and hope for it to recover. All the best.
  10. Can't see the pic clearly. Is the blurring smooth or does it seem like scratches on the surface?
  11. Yes, I remember Henry trains his mandarin to feed on pallets. Usually he tries to get all pellet trained first before letting go for sale.
  12. Maybe bullied & stressed, or parasitic/bacteria infection. Any pic?
  13. Thanks bro. I wouldn't be having any SPS, just mainly softies. The leather would be for my clowns to host. But am also worried the clowns too rough on it and kill it, haha. They already killed by Gonio
  14. Thanks, was thinking to get the blue neon goby for that purpose.
  15. Is the Neon Goby also considered a doctor fish?
  16. My Clown and Dotty don't really take to seaweed. Is that common?
  17. Most lfs would have frozen Mysis. For live ones, can try Ah Beng at pasir ris farmway.
  18. It's just my newbie opinion. Want all to be safe. Happy reefing
  19. If it is to increase salinity, I guess you could do that. But I feel NSW is saline enough as it is. It is afterall the real thing, the real sea water. If it is to increase Ca and Mg, with that limited amount (in terms of %) of saltmix added, it won't increase your Ca or Mg much. You might as well dose Ca and Mg additives. I'm still a newbie, but that is just my feel.
  20. Have read that leather mushrooms releases toxins now and then. Plus it sheds frequently. So is it advisable to keep them in a nano tank without skimmer?
