  1. Hi, looking to sell my HOB Refugium which I DIY from a Fluval C4 HOB. Reason for selling is because my new lightset clashes with the HOB placement. Letting go at $55. Comes with the Chaeto and mini-light u see in photo. (Do note stem of the light is a bit rusty.) PM me if interested.
  2. Can someone help with a noob question. Currently I only have Activated Carbon & Ceramic Rings in my 80l nano tank. If I were to include in Rowaphos and Bio-Sphere. Is this ok or would that be an overkill? I have been doing 15-20% water change every week. With the above addition, would it be ok to reduce wc frequency to 2-3 weeks?
  3. Hi CestTresBon, I believe the C4 is available in several lfs. I got mine from Petmart.
  4. yq33, there's no tutorial to DIY the fluval. But there is for the AquaClear HOB. I can't remember where I read it, u can google for it.
  5. Bunster, the LED was salvaged from my first tank, which was just a pico. Just happened it fits perfectly. I did not document the process, so can't show u the inside. But here's a pic of the back view.
  6. Hi brandonm, appreciate if u can comment on my below plan of action. I will be changing to a new 2ft tank soon. Current 1.5ft tank has a lot of hair and turf algae. Plan is to take out all LR and use brush to remove as much algae as possible. Then soak LR in Hydrogen Peroxide (3%) from Guardian Pharmacy for 4-5 mins. Next will rinse LR before transferring it into new tank. All LR will be treated together. I would have removed most algae by brushing, but do you think this will still cause an ammonia spike in new tank. I have a cleaner, fire & coral-banded shrimps which will also be transferred into new tank shortly after the LR. Do you think it is safe to do so within the same day? Please advise, thanks.
  7. What is your tank size? Running chiller? Indicating your setup would help others provide suitable LS suggestions.
  8. Wash the sand with tank water, then try this. 1) cut the bottom of a 1.5l pet bottle to make a full opening. 2) tighten the bottle cap, then fill the bottle with the sand. 3) lower the bottle vertically down with bottle cap pointing downwards. 4) when cap is touching tank bottom, uncap the bottle and allow sand to slowly flow out. Control flow of sand by lifting or lowering the bottle on tank bottom.
  9. If it is powder from your bio-rings or similar. Then just take them out and rinse it with tank water. If it is copepods, then they are good. If it is micro-bubbles, then you need to check your pump n pipings. Hope it's one of these 3, good luck.
  10. Hi kind reefers, I am getting a 20G (80 litre) tank with built-in IOS on the back. It will only be for LPS and fishes. Can I have some suggestions for Protein Skimmer and Return Pump? Consideration points : 1) Low power consumption 2) Low heat generation 3) Quiet 4) Not too expensive 5) The smaller the size the better At the moment, I am considering Aqua Macro NS12 protein skimmer and Eheim Compact+2000 pump. Any advise/suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  11. Hi, I'm interested in item 6 "frogspawn green tentacles purple tip 3head $15". Can PM a pic for that? Thanks.
  12. iNano meant for up to 40cm right? So 60cm it can't cover, unless put 2 units if iNano?
  13. Can anyone advise, between actinic (blue) lights and normal white light, which is less favorable to algae growth? For example, 6hr White + 2hr actinic, compared to 8hr white only. Which will have less algae growth. Or will it be same? Thanks:)
  14. Currently using Cherry iNano on my 1ft tank.
  15. Keeping mainly LPS and of course some fishes.
  16. Hi, Can I have some recommendation for LED light to use on 2ft tank? Budget only about $200. Thanks.
  17. Hi, is the tank made of glass or acrylic? what is the thickness?
  18. I've had frags that were glued to frag plugs and then lightly glued to the LR, uprooted from their spots by worms. Even my GSP on an egg sized rock pulled down from top shelf of my scape. All these suspected done by bristle or bobbit worms. Really amazed at their strength. Finally had enough of the nonsense, so I nuked all my LR with fresh water. Hope I don't see them again.
  19. Tks bro, I heard mixed reviews with some saying Cerith is better, others say Trochus better. What is your opinion?
  20. I'm looking to get a couple of Trochus snails to help control algae in my tank. If any reefers have a couple small snails to sell or know which lfs has these snails, please PM me, thanks:)
  21. They are harmless, but their mucous net are irritating. If they start to multiply, then it will get unsightly. I got rid of mine.
  22. Couldn't find Aquaclear 70, so I bought the Fluval C4. But it is very noisy. Now trying to find out what is causing the noise and solve it. If not, I am going to return this to the shop.
