  1. Thank you so much for the offer, it is very nice of you. But I think I better get one for myself, as I foresee several occasions when I will need it again.
  2. Hi, can anyone recommend a good but not too expensive food feeder? Will be away for a week and have no one to help feed the fishes. Thus need to get a auto feeder. Been reading reviews of the Eheim 3581 Feed-Air and Juwel Automatic Feeder. Price diff is double. Is the Eheim really worth the double cost? Anyone has experience with either of these? Or any other feeders, please do comment, thanks.
  3. Sounds a fantastic idea. But one matter might have to consider. When the water is topped up, it is actually topping up water that you have drained off PLUS water that has evaporated during the day. Thus over a period of time, your salinity will slowly increase. Just my 2cents worth.
  4. Hi, need help to identify these 3 types of algae on my LR. I think the Green is Turf Algae, which is bad. What about the leafy Purplish Red algaes on the side. And the bush-like Redish algae on the top?

  6. Thanks SubZero, I used normal superglue and improvised to "re-enforced" the joint to make it stronger. Totally agree, should have used acrylic solvent as it gives a stronger bond and nicer finishing. But was lazy to go back out to buy it, so I worked with what I had. Did not know about Darma, wished I had. Would you know their cost for acrylic bars? Just in case I decide to re-do to make it one big single cover instead of having 2 small covers.
  7. Thanks Warrior. But I did not buy the pre-made net from the US seller. I used fishing lines (kiasu a bit, I used flourocarbon lines, haha) to make a net. My steps quire simple, listed below. - Bought Acrylic plate from Art-Friend. But the thickest they have is 3mm. If you can get 5mm or more, would be better, as it would be less flexible. Less flex will allow you to make the frame size bigger. - Measured my tank top and then cut the acrylic into "strips" that is slightly longer than the tank measurement. - Drilled small holes all along the frame strip, For me, the holes are drilled 1cm apart so the net is 1cmx1cm square. - As I have a return pipe protruding from one corner of my IOS tank, I had to use a heat gun to bend the acrylic so that it bends around the pipe. - Super glued the strips to make the frame. - Using fishing lines, I thread them through the drilled holes, creating the net. That's all. The best part is, it costs me less than $20 in total. Happy DIYing.
  8. Flame69Angel, no suggestion is too late. We are all here to share & learn. Thanks for sharing.
  9. My completed tank cover. Hope it works.
  10. Could not find suitable frame and wire mesh. So I am going to DIY. Using Acrylic for the frame and fishing lines for the netting.
  11. Hi Xiggie, Have you had any experience with similar looking crab in your tank before? Please share your experience, thanks.
  12. Found this 2cm crab on my DT. Can anyone positive ID it please. Tq trim.CC3413CB-6BF3-4805-AB7E-1220DE83627F.MOV
  13. Suddenly pop out of my 9 months old LR. Are these hydroids? If so, what's the best solution?
  14. I feel the main criteria for material to use as the mesh would be, Thin & Transparent. That's why I like yr idea of fishing line or net. Think the nylon mesh would block out too much light. And u are right about the egg crate. It will become weak n flimsy with the center "hollowed". Maybe use acrylic to form the frame instead?
  15. Thank you all for your contributions. I think I am more inclined towards either ordering the mesh from USA, or DIY with fishing line if I can't find similar mesh in DIY shops. Firestarter, have you tried fishing lines yourself before? Or know anyone that did?
  16. My clown jump out of my 2ft tank a couple times this year. Luckily it was rescued and survived on both occasions. Can anyone suggest what to use to cover the tank top? Something that does not block the lights too much. Egg crate is no-no, as it blocks too much light.
  17. Ya, so sad. LIFE Distilled Water 12x1500ml increased from $5.90 to now at $9.00. NTUC trying to push sales to their "PURE" water, which is priced at $5.90
  18. Just a wild guess. Maybe it is remains of the Silicone Glue used to fix the tank. Maybe the tank maker had a spillover and some glue dried up on the glass before he cleaned it up. Thus now seeing such "skin" peeling off.
