Are we able to change that ca dosing in as many as your dosing pump can spilt? Reason being regardless how much the fluctuation affect or don't affect the corals we aim to keep parameter as stable as we can. If u don't mind following my method pm me your number. We do it step by step Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Complicated!! Hehe can U like change all to dosing ? Instead of each dose 15ml U spilt 45ml into 24dose a day. Of set 2ml per hour 48ml a day? Since using liquid ca, why still use manual salt? Why u use dosing pump only for ca? Why don't use it for both mg and kh? I don't know the relationship. But i always tune mg first then the other 2 ( 1 at a time, 2 hours or more interval) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Running Chiller Cost And RODI cost
patricklhc replied to IshDeOne's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
It depends on the water pressure. Otherwise a booster pump would be a good addition. Visit madpetz he will be able to give U very good advice. Ask him about a upgrade of the ro membrane too for faster collection of rodi water. I upgraded mine to 200g/day if I remember correctly Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Bro just to clarify further for better understanding. 45ml/ 3parts per day do U mean U dose 3 times a day using dosing pump? Manual dosing of 12g per day. What did u dose? Ca liquid or CA SALT mix with rodi? and also at what time? For me I test 2 hours after each dosing. And I dose only 1 at a time. Either MG, CA, KH. Usually I choose to increase MG first then follow by CA or KH depending on their reading. Don't ask me about how MG,CA and KH relationship works I got no idea just that I know my "rojak" method works haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Bro share with us the details of how U dose your ca and mg time apart and how long after U dose to test and also What about your dkh ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's just normal to have them.. They are part of the ocean bro.. Your tank been running for quite a while already. Anything wrong with your corals or fishes? If not then nothing to be alarm of. Just remove them as and when you see them. Bristle worms are still heavily debatable. For me I say it's good and in I keep them. Watch out for bobbit worms Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Setup and move over later !! I give U a bouquet of sps colony as tank "warming" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Bro see the above reply haha about the same to answer your question IMO 0 TDS is just as important as maintaining mg ca and kH. The max I will allow is 2tds and I will be doing maintenance on the rodi unit(replacing whatever filter that needs to be replaced) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Diatom mainly survive on silicate. A working rodi unit should remove this from your tap water. If u are already using a rodi double check on the tds reading. Also adding of new rocks or sand(dead or alive) could be a possible cause of silicate too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What are u dosing with your dosing pump bro? If u are dosing mg ca and kh there is no need for kalk Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My experience with Dinoflagellates

Not deadly as compared to Dino haha check your nutrient like no3 and po4. Reduce feeding increase your nutrient export siphon out as much as you can and do a major wc Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I don't know about this reefer post so didn't know what method he as haha. But back to yours for 2months I suspect it's just brown algae or diatoms which are not as tedious to deal with as long as with the usual stuff most reefers will tell u reduce feeding do major wc keep your tank nutrient low etc etc etc Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Hi guys, Though of sharing my experience battling this pain in the neck bacterial(some call it algae) Due to the high po4 leaching from who knows where po4 went up to an alarmingly high level. It started off with the usual brown looking "algae" which I I just brush it off thinking it's just diatoms since my tank is new so I assume that it's just another NTS(this is my 4th tank) totally ignoring it and simply continue with my usual weekly routine maintaining the tank doing WC testing my mg ca and kh dosing. I was lazy to test my po4 assuming ultraphos will take care of it. Slowly as these brown "algaes" started to have bubbles growing within patches and patches I took a closer look and realize they have already evolved into string like algae with some growing on and over my sps!! After lots of online checks and asking around other reefers it was more or less confirm its dinoflagellates BUT nobody gives me a sure fire answer in solving it. What I read online is that dinoflagellates has got a total of don't know how many identify spices and difference spices has a different method against them. I got solution from friendly friends and reefer like off light for 3 days, feed less, siphon them everyday increase water flow etc etc everything tried but nothing works. I was on the verge of restarting the whole tank!! Someone told me to try algae X from fauna marin. It's specifically target at Dino and some algae which I didn't bother to know since dinoflagellates is my target. Went to iwarna to get bottle from bro fuel. Here really want to thank him for his great advice. He told me to settle my high PO4 before using otherwise it will not work. As I'm lazy and didn't want to keep changing ultraphos to save money true enough after half a bottle of dosing, these dinoflagellates show no sign of going away. So end up LL just keep changing Ultraphos in higher than recommended volume( usually not recommended because sudden drop in po4 can be damaging to sps) but I was desperate and I couldn't care much. But anyway thankfully other than some frags STN majority of my sps are all ok. So once PO4 is stable at a lower reading of 0.05-0.00ppm dosing of algae X resumed. Until today this point I don't know how many weeks past I won't say I have won the battle yet. But there are definitely signs of dinoflagellates reducing and not growing back in masses on area where I siphon them. They use to grow back fast but now still grow back fast but much lesser. I think I am on my way to victory but I'm prepared for unforeseen events leading to dinoflagellates beating me flat down. I will update here again on final winner of this battle... Shouldn't be too difficult if can find download link for the manual and follow the instruction to open up for a wash. Not worth to pay people to do it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
