  1. Awesome Project Bro ! will follow all your update and photos in your new tank thread. Keep us posted.
  2. Very nice and beautiful DIY tank ! make me feel like starting a nano tank also.
  3. nice collection bro! I particularly like the butterfly alot.
  4. Just back from Kelatan lane. The shop is next to Nanyang Hardware Pte Ltd. 120L -$25 50L- $18 Didn't buy as they only carry 120L which is too big or 50L too small for me. Still looking around . Anyone has 70-100L? tall and slim type?
  5. Hey Kent Bro, Do you happen to know if they open on sunday or only weekday? You have the shop name? Thanks
  6. I am looking to trade a sump ( two compartment) with any blue drum (more than 70L and above) Currently the extra sump serve as a water reservoir for my pretreat water. Anyone interested , pls PM me. thank you.
  7. Anyone has a 70L to 100L blue drum to let go? thank you.
  8. thanks bro! from what i have learned , 2 strong skimmer in a single sump do not have much effect, however running 2 skimmer in a two seperate compartment design sump that support a single tank works well. I do not dose bacteria since Day 1 as i was told to be unnecessary by Bob Fenner. Yes i also think i will need more media, as i have been looking around from decom reefers. Tks for the great advice and sharing ! too busy traveling and i only measure Nitrate KH and PH, the rest i don't measure anymore. It been 8 month since i run this tank. FIshes are ok. i also dose carbon and run biopellets but i only wonder how effective it can further reduce the nitrate in a heavy load system.
  9. Ya, maybe i am too worry why nitrate cannot further go down. since i cant have a tall and bigger skimmer like yours. do you think is good to run two skimmer in the sump? have this thoughts for 2 days now. Still reading on reefers who run two skimmer. any pro and cons?
  10. Typically, most water conditioners will remove chlorine and chloramine immediately and will dissipate from the water after about 24-48 hours. So it is no longer active, the water is safe to use, and it will not interact with the copper. I always play safe and leave it for 3- 4 days before saltmix. Always add "just enough" conditioner from the instruction label. Had done it in my QT tank, no problem.
  11. I run similar set up like yours include Deltec skimmer, bio pellet and i dose reef Biofuel in my bare bottom tank. My Nitrate is always around 15-20ppm for the past 7 months, which i think is very high but luckily no fishes die or show any discolour. Previously when i had my reef tank, nitrate was very low as i only have a few tangs. May i know your nitrate reading?
  12. Is it true that even the best skimmer can only take certain percentage of waste from the tank ( like 60% of the tank waste ) ? If i remember correctly, reading an article comparing " best skimmer in the market". So the remaining waste we have to depend on other waste export method such as water change?
  13. Ya i saw your big skimmer, what brand is that? Reef Octu? Currently i am using a Deltec SC2060 for my ~450L volume. Do you think it is sufficient and effective for my current tank? I don't think i can change to a bigger size one as my current sump and cabinet height has limitation. Anyway i simply cant achieve near zero reading. is there any other reason why so? I have try bio-pellet and carbon dosing for FOWLR. For denitrator, i have never use it before. btw how many percent of water you change weekly?
  14. Collective views on further reducing Nitrate in heavy load FOLWR/FO system. Although, I have been doing frequent water change to reduce Nitrate. I like to learn from other reefers who deploy addition methods to further reduce Nitrate and prolong water change cycle in heavy load system 1. Running Bio-pellet system 2. Dose any kind of carbon source. 3. Running a bare bottom chaeto refugium setup 4. Running an ATS setup. 5. Running a denitrator system. 6. Deploy DSB and huge live rock for FOLWR 7. Others- traditional or advance methods and technologies May I also know cheato and ATS which one adsorb nitrate faster? In a heavy load system is it possible to reach nitrate below 5ppm? For heavy load system, it is useless to use any of the above method since nitrate creep up too fast, water change 2 times a week with 10-20% water change will do the job. Any fish lovers keen to share here? thank you.
  15. both fishes reserve for collection. TQ
  16. Have two healthy fishes to let go, both keep for >than 6 months. Fat and greedy (Free from parasite), feed on anything. 1. Regal Angel- pygoplites diacanthus (3.5”) -$36.00 2. Desjardin's Sailfin Tang - zebrasoma desjardinii (3.5”)- $24.00 PM me if you are interested. Take both have slight discount. Location near Holland road. More pictures and short clip video upon request. Happy reefing.
  17. Currently i have one side connector with the other side expose wire. But i do not have the solder equipment, so i am looking for two side head connector. Ya, sim lim should have. tks
  18. Hey , Any DIY reefer has the above? I need 2 pcs. Or anyone know where to buy in Singapore? I know Ebay has but it take around 3 weeks to delivery. Tks in advance.
  19. look like a "snail trail" to me. My guess is snail eggs.
  20. no expert here. This virus do spread, it is like a flu virus, the stronger one will not catch it. Rarely fatal but could die from secondary infection if no care taken. IMO, check display tank condition such as water parameter/ stock level and compatibility If QT is a problem, add into the display tank if there is no other fish harass him, if there is, cage him in the display tank for while let him stabilize before introducing. Weekly WC, feed little but frequently with quality food. Most important try reduce stress level of fish and build their immune system. if fish that has severe condition (on gill or mouth) i would continue QT him. 100% WC for QT sound good but do check for PH and SG consistency to prevent further stress to the fish.
  21. Unlikely, pls read up more on Marine Itch cycle. Marine Itch may seem lesser after the first appearance, but they might come back in multiple if fish is not able to fight back. However if your other fish immune system is strong they may fight against it. Anyway in short, they multiply fast after a few days. How long have you kept the rest of the fishes. My Option: if i can net them and QT in a separate tank with treatment and leave the reef empty for 1.5-2 mths. Hope your fishes get well soon.
