  4. Heh.. Sorry to hijack.. But anyone have a comparison between that and the BM NAC3.5?
  5. Hmm.. Got some new additions! No time to take pics though.. Will try to do it on Friday night or something! I added 2 frags of Zoas and a clam.. The clam's at the sandbed.. My diamond goby keeps depositing some sand onto the clam! So it occasionally "springs" back to spit out the sand.. Will this cause it to be stressed?
  6. Thanks! I PMed you the cost of the octo! Thanks! Haha.. Still feel the tank lacks a little bit of colours.. I got the Helfrichi from LCK201 about a month back.. I've PMed you the cost..
  7. Hmm.. Got a question.. I've been dosing 'it's clear' for a couple of weeks now.. Doubled my dosage these two weeks but there's still quite a bit of particles floating in the water and it's not as clear as it should be.. Anyone has any advice? Would the diamond watchman goby be a contributing factor since it helps sift th sand?
  8. Forgot to add that the two firefishes have grown since they've been added! FTS as of today.. Rock of Zoas, One of my very first coral in the tank.. Opening up big every day! Took a closer look after I snapped the picture, realised that there are a number of small polyps growing "underneath" Newest additions to the tank.. Octo (Yesterday), and two small frags of Pink BN. The few polyps of Zoas on the extreme right are those that hitchhiked on the LR I bought.. And the Orange Monti!
  9. Been awhile since I last updated.. Since my last update, I've added one more LR to the scape. Here's an update to my LS list: - x1 Watchman Goby - x1 Purple Firefish/Dartfish - x1 Helfrichi Firefish - x1 Purple Tang - x1 Blue Tang - x1 Yellow Banded Wrasse (halichores hoevani - 1 pair of True Percs - x2 Sea Hare Corals: - Small branch of Hammer - Pink BTA - Orange Monti (with compliments from bro spkentchai, thanks bro!) - Pink Birdnest frags - Rock of Zoas - True Octo (I think) The LR I got had some Zoas on it.. I wonder if it has lost colour or thats already its colour.. A kind reefer gave me a frag of orange monti to "try".. Haha.. Its doing surprisingly well, seems like it has grown a little bit, and the sides where he broke this frag off for me now has colour on it.. I was battling hair algae on my LRs and tank walls for a good 2-3 weeks, but its all under control now with the two sea hares.. there's also green and brown algae growing on the tank wall but seems like its slowing down these 2 days.. Will have to monitor again.. Okie! Enough "talking", pictures at the next post! PS. Sorry pics aren't too clear.. Realised I left my dslr in the office when I wanted to take pics to update.. Heh..
  10. Hmm.. Mine's a 2 FT Cube with 6" IOS at the back.. So its about 59Gal..? Currently I have a rock of Zoas, Hammer, a small Monti frag and an anemone in my tank.. I'm dosing at 1 drop a day.. Will be increasing once my tank starts to fill up with more corals..
  11. I'm not sure about bro slapper.. But for me, I dose 1 drop iodine per day, gonna increase to two drops per day when I've more corals.. And 15ml of strontium alternate days.. I assume you're using brightwell for both eh? For brightwell, Strontium dosage is 5ml per 12gal if I'm not wrong..
  12. Its still cheaper to buy the checkers through BO. I requested for a quote from them. The reagents will be worth buying from Hanna Singapore if need be though..
  13. Hmm.. Looks like a bobbit worm.. I chanced upon a discussion about it last night when trying to research how to remove bristle worms cause I saw a big grey one in my tank last night.. Here's the link to the thread I saw the discussion at:
  14. Item reserved for collection.
  15. Hmm.. I got another watchman goby to replace the missing one.. Its still adjusting to the tank so its still rather shy.. but managed to get a shot of the two of them! Not a very good one though.. And the purple firefish is finally out in the middle of the tank! And here are some shots of the hammer.. Got a question.. Is it a must to target feed / feed the anemone a small piece of prawn at least once weekly? Cause at my first attempt to push the piece of prawn into the anemone's tentacles / mouth, I accidentally pushed it into a crevice and a crab grabbed it in Then at my second attempt, I managed to push it into the anemone, but the cleaner shrimp kept kajiao-ing, so I don't know how much of the prawn did the anemone eventually get.. If its necessary to feed, can someone advise how you do it?
  16. Hmm.. Nope! Its working well, temperature set at 26 degrees.. I've got another thermometer reading the water temperature between 24-25 degrees.. I haven got the chance to measure my bill for the chiller.. But it doesn't kick it that often.. And yup! Still need to top up, but of course not as much, cause there would still be evaporation taking place, only not that severe as using fan..
  17. Hmm.. IMO, with a chiller, your top up regime will definitely be less of a trouble.. For me, I'm using a Artica 1/15 chiller on my 2FT Cube with IOS, and i'm topping up approximately 250ml of distilled water everyday.. Haha.. I got 3 sets of lights, 2 aquawashers and 1 Beamswork.. I think got some bros even more fierce with lights than me leh
  18. Purple firefish is finally swimming out in the open! still a little shy though but it stays out of its rock now.. Blue lights are currently on so not very good to take pics.. On the other hand, the Zoas and Hammer are opening up really well!
  19. I using the aquawashers too.. With a Beamswork Double Power 1600.. This is what I do: 8pm - First strip of blue lights turns on, 8.30pm - Next strip of blue lights turn on, 9pm - First strip of white lights come on 9.30pm - Next strip of white lights come on with the Beamswork White lights are on for 4 hrs for now, will be increasing to 5hrs within the next two weeks, at half hour more per week.. My white lights go off half an hour apart from each other, then the blue lights are left on until 2.30pm and 3pm respectively and my 2x solite + 1x hydor moonlights take over till its 8pm again..
  20. Want to sell my JBJ ATO. Bought from a fellow reefer one month back, still under warranty by Aquamarin (sticker with purchase month still intact, as proof). Used only for three days then I unhooked it from my system. Device was bought in May 2012, so still got about 9 months warranty left. Price: $130 Reason for selling: I found that my evaporation rate isn't that bad with a chiller. Manual topping up everyday is suffice. Collection: East (Kaki Bukit or Marine Parade), West (Clementi, but must arrange with me beforehand as I'm in the east most of the time), North (Woodlands Circle, Sundays only). Will try to post a picture or two tonight. PM if interested.
  21. Thin sand bed works too I think.. In my opinion, ultimately, I think its good husbandry that will upkeep the tank, of course good planning before starting the tank would be a contributing factor too! Frankly now, if I could choose again, I'd put in that extra few hundred bucks and have a sump.. Haha.. But oh well, if I can take care of a small tank like that well enough, I'm sure future upgrades wouldn't be too difficult
  22. Haha.. I have to agree with this.. Pretty certain the Goby is dead.. Unless is digging tunnels under the rocks Thankfully no sudden change in the water parameters though.. Haha.. Thanks! I hope it remains well too! Well, I think its personal preference ba.. Some people go bare bottom even for small tanks.. Sand bed has its disadvantages too.. Met one reefer who told me his sand bed eroded the tank silicon, I don't know how true, and I don't wanna find out.. Haha.. On the good side, it can help house the beneficial bacteria required, while the tank was still cycling, I'd stir the sand bed a little when I dose bacteria..
  23. Here are some pics of the Zoas, Goby and Hammer! The hammer opened up more after I took a photo.. Firefish is still hiding but I saw it come out for a bite when I was feeding.. Seems like the other goby is really gone But I don't see its body at all.. Sigh..
  24. Heh.. I got a small rock of Zoas and Hammer (euphyllia ancora) today! Will post pics when they've opened up! The anemone seems to be doing well though.. it has anchored itself into the crevice I placed it at.. One pretty discouraging thing is that I came back to only see ONE goby left I can't locate the other at all.. At first I thought maybe it died or like found its way into the narrow overflow compartment and died there cause the pair were trying so hard to swim up to the surface and corner near the overflow.. Tried digging the compartment with whatever thing and long stuff I have but I guess maybe it didn't go there.. But... I don't see its body anywhere.. I wonder if its still alive The purple firefish came out though.. it was at resting at the bottom corner of the sand bed.. Then after I went to change and all, it disappeared.. Oh well.. at least it came out! I hope it managed to get some food though..
  25. LOL! Yes! Now the itch starts to attack the eyes, hands and pocket! haha! Suddenly feel like its super empty, got LS, like no LS like that.. LOL! Well, corals wise, I haven really planned out, but I'll probably get one or two rics, some zoas.. haven thought of the rest! Fishes wise, I wanna get: 1 pair of True percs 1 Flame / Rusty flame 1 PBT 1 Purple Tang Heh.. Is an AT too ambitious?
