  1. Hehehe, you really sounds like you are damn piss off with me AT :-) Yup, you are right abt the anemones is not a LPS. Just checked my book. Learn something new tonight for me. Guess there's no advises for me from AT the so call patience, experiences, SPS expert from now on. Well I'll just have to read up more from other sources or learn the blind way.
  2. Yup that's the type of answers I'm looking for..........facts and figures..... .........thanks for the info. Looks like I have to remove my anemones away before starting on SPS or do a partition on the tank.
  3. Ya, that's the 2nd time I heard this comment on removal of LPS if you want to keep SPS. Again I fail to recieve any reasons for the advises made.......is it becos of the anemones sting? If that's so, why can't we separate them apart, anemones at the left bottom, sps at the right top?..........pls give amble facts to support ur commends and not just the blind follow the blind or becos tom, dick or harry said so. The Creator or the Follower.......which group do we belong to?
  4. Wah, my apologies for the "unhappiness" caused. Didn't know my question will end up with so much disturbance.....Hehehe.......relax lah, "dont tension". Life still goes on, so lets depart from MARS and come back to EARTH. Present status and details, water improving, Ammonia 0mg/l ,N02- drop to <0.1mg/l,NO3- 5mg/l,Ca drop from 600ppm to 480ppm, Dkh 12. The 50kg LR were brought 2ndhand from someone's tank who has been cycling them for 18mths. I understand my 150w MH light may not be sufficent, thus I need to try out first before I upgrade to a 250w or 400w, same goes for the chiller. So what do you advise I do now? A) Continue to monitor the water parameters every day until the experts give the "go ahead" signal. Follow the old full proof method and give away all the corals and fishes and start all over again (cycling for 12mths) - Personally I think if all human follows the "fail-safe" method, there will never be any breakthrough in life, non any learnings. C) Wait for the crash that "the experts" predicted becos I'm stocking too fast. D) Maintain status and experiment with a frag of acro to test out although the stocking maybe too fast, but with close monitoring, there might be a slim chance of success. What I need is advises with facts and figures to back you up so I can analyse and think it through, not artillery bombardment. Eg. If you stock up too fast, what are the things you will observed before your tank crashes. Fish dying, white sliming materials forming on the corals, brown algae (diatom) growing......etc Oh ya, I also notice if I switch on my MH light for 8hrs, my anemone (anemone is at bottom on the 5" DSB) tentacles will shrink and become very thin, brownish marks on its body, the mouth will open very big and body tends to be closing/folding up, like dying. But when I off the light and leave it for a 6hrs, the tentacles recovered back to its original thickness, brown marks disappear, mouth closes back and body opens up like normal........is that a sign of "sunburn", the 150w MH might be too strong for the 2.5ft depth or I switch on the MH too long? What puzzled me is those smaller anemone at the top of the LR (which is nearer to the MH) seems to be ok, whereelse the bottom anemone is suffering......Any experts have any logical explanations?
  5. Oh sorry for the late reply, & thanks for all the advices......Guess I can't control the tempt whenever I visit the LFS, thus stocking up so fast. However I do read up and started stocking only after my NH3 and NO2- are zero and NO3- is 0.5mg/l. So far the corals are still surviving, but lose the 2 nudibranch liao. Have since stop the stocking up as I observed the NO2- is creeping up to 0.3mg/l & the lost of my 2 nudibranch. Will continue after it has stabilise. As for the choosing of the type of corals, whether is it for experts or beginners, frankly speaking......I dont care :-) I believe in learning from mistakes. If you dont try, you will never know. Therefore, despite all the kind advices, I do appreciated it, I'll still go ahead and purchase a frag of an Acro to try.......sorry if in the process of learning I sacrifies some marine lives, well.....this is what I called life. Thy may know some things, but never assume thy know everything.
