  1. But I still got my full gears though, maybe financial more stable liao will get a KTM450EXC and chiong the Malaysia mountains again! Till then, I'll just stick with visiting marine farms during off days and concentrate on collecting corals. James
  2. Wont one lah, you put the PH near to the surface of the water and remove away the unsightly suction sponge below the PH. The rotating PH will sweep the water thus recreating some current. Best is aim the PH flow towards ur return flow so both current will cross at each other.
  3. Give up trailing, and enduro riding liao, thus picking up this hobby.
  4. Add another powerhead inside the tank to circulate and stir the water a bit lor. I using a Eden 228 PH bought 2ndhand, so far doing a good job. But my return pump, ehiem 1260, can deliver 2500L/Hr. So far can observed the slight current even along the sand bed. My tank is 3ft x 1.5ft x 2.5ft. with 6inch DSB.
  5. Anytime man! Just arrange a date! Although I dont really know how to play lah......hehehe

  7. I wrote the topic HELP! as I was curing my uncured LR and it stinks! Later I found out the reason why......I forgot to put on the air tube for aeration on my powerhead, no wonder the ROCK is dying due to lack of oxygen. After the smelly experiences, I add in my Weipro 2012 skimmer and adjust the powerhead nearer to the water surface to draw in air as it circulate the saltwater. The smell reduced dramatically after around 4hrs of skimming.......WEIPRO 2012 is a good skimmer!!! Now everything is back to normal, i'm cycling my sands and water now, tomolo will add in the LR liao.....good luck! James
  8. Hi guys ! just brought 50kg of live rocks and leave it inside a sump full of salt water at SG 1.025 with 2 x powerhead circulating. Yest. the water turn clear , tot everything was good but today the LR and water suddenly turn cloudy and smelly, there are some dead worms at the sump bottom too. What has happen? Can the LR still be use? Must I run my skimmer or circulate the LR through a filter system? Need to set it aside for at least another 5 days before my main tank is ready. PLS advise! How long will the stink last ? clueless, Jame

  14. Hi guys, I'm intending to start out a marine reef tank. But dont wan to spend too much first cos donno interest will last or not. So have decided to start out with watever equipments I can gather at cheap rates and try it out. Have custom make a $50 2ft sump though, rest of the items needed:- p/s: Pls advise where can buy all below items at reasonable price? Main Tank - 2.5ft - 3ft with overflow Stand or cabinet - 2.5ft - 3ft with hood Weipro 2011 or 2012 skimmer - heard good news abt them Grade #0 and #1 sand - Anyone knows where to get them new? The best is 2ndhand sand lah, can help in speeding up on my recycling process. Pumps and powerhead - as long as powerful enuff to pump up from the sump to a 3ft height will do liao. Ammonia,Nitrite,Nitrate,Calcium....etc test kit Marine salt Ph , & temperature gauge Hydrometer Lights - for 2.5ft depth reef use - intending to keep corals Pls feel free to sms or contact me with equipment description and price.
  15. Time to check your temperature gauge.......hehehe, might need calibration........LOL
  16. what should be the right calcium level for corals?
  17. Hi guys, I'm interested in setting up a marine reef tank for my new house, but know nuts abt it and also have a tight budget and space constraint. After taking some measurement, I have decided on a 2.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 cube tank with cabinet and preferbly a 2 x 1.5 x 1.5 sump tank below. Budget must not be more than $1000. Need advises on the 1) design of the main tank for a low maintenance marine setup....like overflow compartment, what should be inside the overflow compartment? How many compartment would i need for efficent filteration? 2) Design of the sump tank, what should be inside a sump tank? Preferbly the protein skimmer be inside the sump tank to maximise the space in the main tank. Which type of skimmer is recommended and roughly wats the price? 3) Recommendation of a tank maker and cabinet maker? Roughly the price range. So far my best quote is $240 for the 2.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 cube tank with internal overflow, $60 for a sump tank (donno what kinda design) , $300 for laminated cabinet. Are these prices reasonable? The problem with this tank maker is he dont sell marine stuffs , only make tanks so I donno if it will be more appropriate to just go down to a experience local marine fish shop and ask them to do a setup for me. Any recommedation? 4) Recommendation for lights and where to get them? What are the prices like? 5) Recommendation for pumps, what's the price? 6) What other items are needed ? 7) What kinda filteration system is recommended for reef and fish tank? canister filter, trickle filter, deep sand bed, box filter, power filter, sponge filter, undergravel filter? 8) Anyone with quotation under $1000 for this setup is welcome to email me at james72@starhub.net.sg p/s: I'm going to try without a chiller for the time being due to budget constraint. Any advises will be appreciated......:-) Thanks, James james72@starhub.net.sg
