  1. Depending on what you intend to keep at the end of the day. A good turnover rate will ensure water will go through the "cleaning process" faster. I suggest getting a Eheim 1262-1264 (3400-4500l/h) as your main return pump for your new 3ft tank for reliability and Jebao wp25 (8000l/h) x 2 for your internal tank circulation. That will give you a good turnover rate of >50x for most of the demanding corals. For my tank I ran 120x turnover rate.

  4. Let your skimmer sit below a container to raise the height and readjust your water level to neck of skimmer body.
  5. I will go for a secondhand ehiem over any brand new Taiwan or China pump if I were you. A failure on return pump can ruin all the effort put in.
  6. My ios only have my life reef skimmer & a small bag of carbon for first compartment and 2nd compartment return pump to chiller back to tank. Thats all.....whatever the skimmer did not pick up, I will syphon it out during forthnightly water change.
  7. Interested in your carbon and maybe rowaphos, where is your address?

  13. Well taken pics.....damn envy
  14. I go bare bottom for almost a year till I notice not much detritus accumulation then I add in the shallow sand. Works well for me. The bare bottom allow me to keep my nutrients low through siphoning the detritus.
  15. Nice......one of my favourite fish too but I also want to see my sps open polyps day time so cant keep them.
  16. No need all the fanciful things, a good skimmer, rowaphos and weekly water change is all you need. Go very slow on your live stocks and feeding else nuisance algaes will be hard to deal with for a small volume tank.
