  1. u are right bro....in fact there are two ceramic cups in my QT. I use them for the new members to hide after a stressful journey (ie kena caught from the sea->transport here and there etc)
  2. Bro Bigbird aka angellove..... one word: swee!
  3. Bro, For the longnose hawk is it fast enough to get its food? Thinking of getting one but not sure if it can compete with the rest... Thanks.
  4. My Bicolor Dottyback.....owns several properties in the live rocks.....usually the mini caves and crevices.
  5. Always "patroling" the live rocks......foraging to find any tasty morsel it may find.... In fact, I saw it in action just yesterday, pulling out from the LR a small bristle worm (about 6 cm)...its was very excited on the find and swam off quickly while chewing...a piece of the worm dropped off and was quickly taken by my 3 stripe damselfish.
  6. Thanks Bro Gouldian...actually I learn about QT methods here and there from the bros here. My greatest fear is ICH..... thats why...
  7. Update on Ah Beng LFS at Pasir Ris as of 5pm today: 1) About 20-30 PT (some in tanks and some in bags- 3 inch) 2) Many blue tangs, think about 40 in the blue tub (various sizes) but also saw an old man left with about 20 other blue tangs about 4 inch each. Maybe old man from other LFS. 3) About 15 Golden butterfly (4 inch) 4) 3 YT (3 inch) Saw many boxes being unpack when I left.......
  8. New member of my tank is the Harlequin Tuskfish. Another fish that i find its behaviour rather interesting. While in the QT tank, it already accept meaty food readily. Seems to peer at you when I approach the QT tank (toyogo box). Its eyes somewhat "rotating" about.
  9. Agreed. QT is the best....learned this from the rest of the bros here. Now using Cupramine in QT tank for all my new fish.
  10. Its been awhile since my last update, as I was trying my best to hold back adding of new fish (water conditions not too stable back then). Just added a new "member"....should be easy to guess...
  11. Very nice tank...looks neat and clean! You mentioned white spots, could it be ICH? Better to QT your new fish first before adding in the main tank.
  12. Hi, Just bought one Red Tail Filefish last week. Now feeding very well on mysis shrimps in the QT tank. An interesting fish bcos its fins movements are simliar to the Trigger but it has a peaceful temperament (not reef safe). Also has a "file like" horn on its head that can extend up 90 degrees when threatened. Due to its jagged horn, a net cannot be used to catch it or it will sure be stucked there. Luckily the LFS staff alerted me before I scooped it out. Anyone keeping such a fish, can share your experience? Picture taken from internet
  13. Cannot off power. Regular water change etc

  15. Jervis now into fresh water aquarium....very active at http://www.aquaticquotient.com Still using very high tech and high end stuff...for fresh water.
  16. Bandit Angel is indeed a nice & cute looking fish. But did a check and found it is difficult to keep. Black Bandit Angelfish Quick Stats: Black Bandit Angelfish Family: Pomacanthidae Range: Pacific, Hawaii Size: Up to 7 inches Diet: Omnivore Tank Set-up: Marine: Coral or rock, plants Reef Compatible: With caution Tank Conditions: 72-78ºF; sg 1.020-1.025; pH 8.1-8.4 Minimum Tank Capacity: 70 gallon Light: High Temperament: Semi-aggressive Swimming Level: No specific level Care Level: Difficult Reproduction: Egg Scatterer The Black Bandit Angel is also known as the Black-banded Angelfish because of the swatch of black that extends horizontally from over the eyes to the end of the dorsal fin. It is also known as the Hawaiian Pearlyscale Angelfish due to the shimmering whites to grays making up the majority of body color. The ###### fin is dark brown and the tail has a wide dark brown rim tipped inwardly with white. A single Black Bandit Angel will do well in a tank of at least 70 gallons with plenty of hiding places. Once established, the Black Bandit Angel may become territorial. With a natural diet of sponges, the Black Bandit Angelfish is difficult to acclimatize. It has a habit of nipping at soft and hard corals and clam mantles, so it is not a good reef dweller. It is hermaphroditic, very difficult to breed in an aquarium, and indistinguishable by coloration from male to female. A varied diet of angelfish preparations, marine algae, live rock for grazing, and vitamin-fortified shrimp should be provided. ================================================== Diet and Feeding: Relying on sponges as its sole source of food, this fish easily starve in captivity. If you are interested in keeping one, it wise to wait for a larger juvenile or sub-adult specimen. In most cases these specimens will adapt to tank fed foods more readily than very small juveniles or large adults.
