Any Ill Effects for Fast Flow Rate for Fish?
arcanehacker replied to Dratino's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
High is really dependent on your tank size here.. If its on a 4ft, I doubt its high.. infact its pretty low. Fast flow would be good but whether they still have any space or corner to rest when tired or sleeping. -
PUB bill for a typical marine tank.

Willing buyer meets willing seller is only when the buyer knows what he is paying for. If the buyer is ill-informed and do not knwo at all the market rate, its called Willing seller, Unsuspecting buyer.

well its always the case isn't it.. after knwoing the inside workings.. people become sorta paranoid. I know of medical lab friend. she is constantly paranoid about bacteria everywhere. I worked partime in restaurants, hotel banquet.. if I were paranoid, I would be very concern about whats on my plate..

Aquamedic to control my Denitrator, American Pinpoint to control ozone.. the other is a pH and ORP controller by Aquahouse (mainly using it for pH.. occasionally use it to double confirm readings with my Pinpoint controller.
-
and dun you need a hole somewhere to mount the probe? Wouldn't it be very inconvenient and lotsa work? Dun really think many use this so you might not get many replies. You might want to get new at reefdepot.
-
opps.. I meant "or controller". BTW out of my 3 orp controllers, 2 doesn't have calibration abillity.
-
Not really.. even good brand like Aqua Medic doesn't have calibration feature. To me, maybe its like a temp probe. You do not calibrate a temp monitor of controller. They are all factory calibrated.

Isn't it harder to find just resins alone.. not forgetting the mention of modding the cartridge so you can change whats inside. And then you got to make sure the resins do not flow out because they are really tiny particles. Resin grade flexibility you can also get from those crystal pro cartridges.. they have 2 kinds. Then again if it fits, you can get other brands with different micron type.
-
Well yeah.. not much review on it but I did heard of personal experiences. Someone told me its not as accurate. Well, I do not really know if its not as accurate because of the probe (which is changeable to other brands but then again an extra $100+)? or the controller unit it self not accurate. Why not just go for the American Pinpoint? BTW it seems you have been looking for an ORP controller for the longest time.. any reason for that?

was told this fish is not rare at all.. so why the price?

What air tube? From what I know, the only air tube should be out of the water so air can be drawn INTO the skimmer when the pump draws water in.. at least thats how venturi works.

This i so like the article that drinking distilled or RO/DI water can kill.. something able no minerals and osmotic shock of the internal organs.. All have NO basis or examples though.. so I'd say dun even bother.. just go with the majority. There have been many using DI/RO water for so many years with excellent results.

$180

haha. HC500 is a good quiet model.. somemore with external controller.. Where to get at that price?
-
250gal is too much for the HC500 to handle... It can handle my 180gal up to 26degrees but it runs quite a while to chiill it down. Not energy efficient this way. This is done with an external controller. When I tried 25degrees, it seems impossible. Will run till about 25.4 - 25.5 then just hover around there.. 250gal is way too much a difference. Might not even reach 27 -28. You might want to spend a bit more on a quieter brand/model.

2 spot goby vs scooter blenny
arcanehacker replied to MbmC's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Should be ok. Scooters are only aggressive to its only kind + gender. Twin spotted are pretty docile. But would go against keeping twin spotted.. They will just get thinner and thinner and eventually 'up the lorry'. -
Hairy Mushroom ! Tips & Tricks to keep their tips Green
arcanehacker replied to e>ben<K's topic in Soft Coral Forum
They need strong atinic blue lights.. I had problems with them before. move them all places till I found they thrive on blue lights.. get the ATI atinic and place the hairy mushies under it.. Colours should be back in no time.. you'll even find them propergating to the surrounding really fast. -
Yeah. Much louder . Before upgrade, on the hc500 no one noticed or complained.. Quite quiet. After upgrade to hc1000, everyone is complaining its loud. Double the size supported but more that double the sound.. Its still value for $$ and should be better in elec consumption but the sound is something to consider about. I wonder if there is a mod for it to silence the sound or make it softer??
-
Its a good one. Quiet and reliable, less the thermostat issue. But you can easily fix that with an external temp controller. Can't say that for the 1000 ltrs model.. its pretty loud as I'm recently using.
