Wow I just came across your post... Real dedication in doing what you did. Hats off! Back-breaking work. Just wondering- would it have been easier to medicate whole tank, and followed by 100% water change?

Petmart sells... around $50. U need strong aeration during treatment. Followed by 20% water change. But if your tank conditions are poor, it will return (but not for a few weeks). So Chemiclean works v well to get rid of slime algae, you still need to have good tank husbandry to keep it away for long period of time. It will return at some point. It is after all, one of the most primitive life forms on Earth. It's not a problem if it occurs in isolated spots. Just brush off and siphon away. It's only a problem when it spreads and takes over the tank.
