  1. hi all, this is the second time i have tried a bta, first time was years ago when i just starting reefing... its lasted about a month before it whithered away.... Fast foward, yesterday, i got another BTA just to host my maroon clown. To my surprise, they clicked after some coaxing!!! but i come to realise that my bta got a strange color, its white with pink tips (exactly the same color as my previous bta)... i read from the net that this coloring is actually a sign of bleaching and that the anemone will not last long... is it true? does anyone have any experience in bta this color?? thanks! (sorry about the bluish due to my blue LEDS)
  2. Woah... Nice collection u got there! Been wanting to get helfrichi for the longest time, where did u get yours?? And do u mind, how much is it? I found some which is like $180! Feel so depressed walking out of the shop without it....
  3. Hi, im looking for some volcanic live black sand for my cuttlefish tank, can anyone point me in the right direction?? I have tried Iwarna, apparently they told me whole singapore no stock... I just need a little, maybe half a KG to lay on top of my existing coral sand. Thanks alot

  5. I cant feed live fish... Catching them and feed... Hmmm... Quite the same... I need frozen ones and it will be easier to buy rather than catching them... I might try giant... Anyone actually seen it? Thanks fellas

  8. Thanks alot bros.... Will try to wean it by hook or by crook! Anyway, wich supermarket carry silversides? I try ntuc and shop and save and carrefour... Dun have. Good to add another variety...
  9. Hi fellow reefers, i recently setup a lionfish tank and got myself a juve volita lion. I got a very hard time weaning it to frozen.... Tried chopped clams, tamban, prawn, whitebait, recently deceased ghost shrimp, hikari mysis, pe mysis, pellets... To no avil... So far its be a week, i only managed to force him to eat twi pieces of squid. By force, means i had to wriggle the squid right in its face for a good twenty mins then he will relictantly chomp it down and thats two out of planty attemps... Most of the time he will get very excited when i lower and wriggle my clear feeding stick with food, after examing it for 30 secs... Turn and swim away... Im really getting very frustrated and disheartened... But, no giving up... Due to religious reasons i cant feed him live food. Base on countless articles i read on the net, some succeeded using silverside, but thats in US... I cant seems to find any fresh little salwater fish, be it silversides or anchovies or ikan bilis.... Anyone ever come across any?? Fresh or frozen?? And not dried ikan bilis.... Or if u have any tips on weaning lions....PLEASE ADVISE!!! Thanks alot bros....
  10. Hi, just got myself a baby lionfish. Im currently feeding it frozen mysis shrimp which he readily accepted. Since its still a baby, i figure mysis should be sufficient. However, when i grows i think mysis will be a little too small for a juvenile lion. Any suggestions? I thought about silversides from the market, but those tends to be too big for a juvenile lion, maybe when it reaches adult, that will be ok. But what do i feed juvenile lions? Im not very keen and comfortable on feeding live food, so mollies, ghost shrimps and goldfish are out. Anyone know where can i get frozen krills? I know hikari actually do produce them but haven seen any lfs selling it... Please advice.
  11. Nope... This is not iq5... Iq5 is more cube like, mine is more landscapey... Got it from a lfs at pasir ris farmway 2
  12. Thanks alot for the advice! I will try to get hold of a piece of shrimp... No cooking in my house... How to buy one shrimp? Haha... I will figure out a way.., will updated on the progress!! thanks again!!!
  13. Hi everyone, finally after all these years in freshwater, i finally threaded into marine territory! I just set up a 1 1/2 ft IOS tank, planning to keep so LPS, shrimps and 2 clowns. Ok, heres how i did it: Filter: Wool, bag of coral chips, bag of glass bio-ring, bag of seachem sea gel, bag of seachem Denitrate Water: Sea water bought from Coral Farm Substrate: 1.5kg of live rock from Coral Farm, coral sand 2inches from Irwana Protein Skimmer: Dymax mini protein skimmer Chiller: Resun CL280 Power overhead: Dymax 600, 600l/hr Lights: LED Bacteria: Fritz Zyme Live Nitrifying bacterial, one capfull Testkit: API Saltwater Master Test Kit My overhead pumps water from the sump behind into the chiller and back into the tank. The tank was setup on 23/12/2011. Its been 3 days into cycling now, i have been testing the water every other day. So far i have run two tests and the reading really puzzles me... First test (24/12) ph 8.2 temp 25oC sg 1.025 ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 40ppm Second test (24/12) ph 8 temp 27oC (off the chiller) sg 1.025 ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 40ppm ok heres the thing.. to my limited knowledge... i thought the cycling process should be spike in ammonia, then i will detect nitrite and lastly nitrate with 0 ammonia and nitrite. WHY IS MY NITRATE 40PPM THIRD DAY INTO CYCLING WITHOUT ANY AMMONIA AND NITRITE???? Initially, i thought i have use the test kit wrongly, but cant be wrong the second time round!! I really want to do it the right way, but im at loss as in whether have i done anything wrong with my setup. This is the first time im attempting saltwater, please can anyone advise on my situation? Will this setup work? im losing sleep over this.... thank you soooo much.
  14. Hi bro, im starting a 1.5ft nano tank too... I am really impressed by your tank!!! I intend to keep some corals, clowns and shrimp. I really need some help here cos im totally new to reefing. Im getting a ios tank due to space constraint, i really cant get a external filter like yours. So i have to get a ios.... Is the seachem you talking about, seachem gel and seachem denitrate?Im loss as to what goes in the the inbuilt sump at the back of the tank, its seperated into three compartments. So, can i do it like what you did? Wool, bio ring and coral chips in the first compartment, then seachem gel and denitrate in two bags go in the second compartment and then i put in a mini dymax protein skimmer and overhead pump at the last compartment. Can this setup be ok? I have a resun cl280 too which i hope my powerhead can feed it then back to compartment 3. Please advice as im getting worried if my will work or not... Thanks alot bro! You tank and photos are amazing!!!
