Need help for cycling please..
Slayer213 replied to Marine_fanaticz's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Do not do water change during cycling, u might cause it to go into a mini cycling.... Instead add bacteria to help build up biomass. U can also introduce ammonia to help kickstart the cycling process. -
I thibk coral farm do have them, but call to check for availability

Zoas, leather and mushroom

I think if u are gonna keep clown, mushroom and zoa... Temp shldnt b an issue, unless if ur room gets really hot or the tanks gonna be under the sun! If thats the case, invest on a chiller... A stable and cooler tank gives u more options of coral and fishes. I have two boys, one 6 and the other 1.5, occasionally the younger one will try to press the chiller buttons... Other than that its safe for the kids... Try not to get an all in one system, ime, it gives u little room to upgrade or change equipments on the future. If space and budget is not an issue, Get a proper tank with an overflow and sump tank... This will save u time, money and heartache.. As for UV, its supposedly makes ur water clearer and kills pathogens... For me it doest make a difference in the 6months period that i had it on, so its now sitting in my storeroom... And yes, u can replace the bulb.

Oh... Btw anemones are not easy to keep... If you haven had any reefing experience, i suggest u wait awhile to gain more exp... If u still looking to keep anemone, u can get a bubble tip anemone. Its one if the easier anemones to keep... Read up more about them before getting it as theres a few things to consider and plan. Things like lighting, water flow and placement. Just my 2 cents... If budget is not an issue... Try looking at maxspect razor LED, its an amazing piece of equipment. In terms of aesthetic, function and performance...i think its worth it. But $$$$ though.. Hope this helps -

Thats a bristle worm... Good news: they eat left overs and detritus. Bad news: they attack corals and fish if they gets too big and hungry.. U can get a CBS or dottyback, they eat bristle worms... Nice setup u got there! -

where can i buy eshopps nano overflowbox?!?!?! other than ordering over the internet. can anyone please advice.... -
Hi all, i have a 2 ft mix tank thats been running for a year now using a eheim canister... I decided to ditch the canister and setup a sump to increase water volume and also a space for a proper skimmer. The problem is my tank is just a normal tank without an overflow, and i dun have space at back if the tank to add a overflow box. Ok, can i just siphon the water directly off the dt to the sump tank below and have a pump to pump the water back to the qt? I intend to place the siphon hose just near the surface of the water in case anything happen it will just stop siphoning and prevent a flood. Will it work?? Please advice... Thanks

Hi yeo, i have been using garlic guard from seachem since i set up this tank, still my pbt developed ich a week after it arrives... Maybe fresh garlic is better?? Anyway, i stopped saoking garlic last night instead i soak ginger juice. Just to see if ginger works or not, going to continues soaking ginger for a week and see if situation improves.. Some reefer reported 100% erradication of ich on day 2 and ich never came back! Im abit sceptical about that but will try anyway...

Hi... Sadly i dun have extra space for a qt tank... So thats out of the question. I have ditched the kickich idea as i had a bad experience with medications... Ok, i have chance upon and forum someone was using ginger to treat ich and with promising results. So yesterday i started soaking nori in freshly grated ginger juice and my pbt gooble it up instantly... I figure ginger is way better than any chemicals since is natural and has many therapuetic effects. I dun have to tear down my tank to get the tang, dose dangerous chemicals, subject fish to hyposalinity stress... And its cheap :0)...Sounds logical to me. I observed the tank for awhile and have not seen any stress on any ls, be it coral, fish, and inverts. So im gonna go hm later and check hows the progress on my pbt. As of yesterday, he is swimming ard, eating tons of green, brown, red seaweeds, not very interested in pellets or frozens though... Btw, he is about 10% covered in ich white spots for 5 days. Will post the results if anybody interested....

Hi... Its always sad to hear fishes gone one by one... I have the same problem also... Tried tangs many times, and all succumbed to ich... So i refrained myself from getting tangs, they are notorious ich magnets! That was about six months ago... Finally i decided to try tangs again after adding Uv steriliser 3months ago and now my tank is around 1 year old. So i bought a hawaiian yellow tank and a powder blue tang last week, all these while praying the ich wont attack... Sigh... Yesterday, my pbt started developing ich... And thru my experience, it wont make it pass this week... My hyt seems fine, no ich, so are the rest of my other fishes. I am really sad and disheartened the moment the ich show up on my pbt... It was healthy and swimming and eating tons of seaweed. I dropped my salinity level to 1.021 from 1.024 yesterday and prayed... This morning theres seems to be more white spots on my pbt... Really desperate to save him, please help!!!!!! I am thinking about trying out this kickich, where can i buy it? I have a frogspawn, maxima clam, leather coral and two bubbletips... Is it safe for me to use kickich??? Please advice, thanks

Nice fish! I have got two of them in my tank.. I will hide at first, then when it becomes acclimatised it will venture out everytime u throw in some food. I feed mine with frozen mysis and brine, and sometimes flakes... They have enormous mouth and a varocious appetite... Doesnt seems to pair up with three of my candy pistol shrimps though. Beautiful fish they are!

wtb frozen food feedin dr wrasse
Slayer213 replied to bubblefish000's topic in Sell off/Pasar Malam Shop
Is yours the common wrasse? Light blue with thick black line across the whole body? I have one with me for a year now, failed a couple of times though... This is my 4th one, doing good! I feed mine with frozen mysis, frozen brine and flakes, he takes every thing. But i realise they survive better with a community if fish rather than solitary... Hope this helps. -
Saw some small and tiny ones at lck, rose bubble tip anemone. Hope this helps...
-
Thanks got it! Will try to look out for another one just in case my pink beauty dont survive...
-
Sorry, does it mean that a healthy anemone has a darker color? How to spot a heathly bubble tip? All i know is that the mouth should be closed.... Thanks
-
Thats what i thought.... Sigh... No wonder my first bta die so prematurely... Really love this color though, thought i got a good deal when i bought it, wasnt expensive... I will try to nurse it back to health. But i reckon its gonna be dead soon. I tried to gently squirt some mysis on it, none seems to stick to its tentacles... Maybe i will try chop market prawn tonight. Thanks!!
