Hi fellow reefers! Thought i share with you my exeprience with anemone and clown. I brought a 3inch whitish pink bubble tip anemone year ago, naturally i want to get an clownfish to pair with it. So after some research, i settled for a 1inch maroon clown. The clownfish headed straight for the anemone without any effort on my part... Best!!! Fast forward a year later, my maroon has grown to a 2.5inch aggressive monster, and its not able to sit snuggly in my bta. So i have to remove him... After some researching again, i went on a hunt for a black foot clownfish aka maldivian clownfish. I finally manage to acquire a small 1inch juvenile at CF. After acclimating the fish for an hour, i released it into my main tank. To my despair it refuses to go near my bta no matter how hard i try to shoo it near thr bta with a tong, it will just hang out right at the top of the tank just below the waterline... This went on for a week. Finally, i got so desperate that i decide to try this method out. So firstly, u will need to find a small hard net normally used for CRS shrimp, (PM me if want to know where to get one). Off all the lights to simulate night mode(if its day time, works better if its night), and wait for an hour, just to make sure the clownfish is fast asleep. Next gently net the fish with the net and bring the net right to the anemone. Make sure the opening of the net is facing the anemone, and try to keep the distance between the net as close as possible to the anemone, so that there no space or gaps for the clownfish to slip out of the net. By now, ur clown should b awake and trying to swim out of the net only to be met with a wall of anemone tentacles! Then try to rest the net against the rocks/glass so that it stays at this position for good ( it will be a good idea to turn the wavemaker to the lowest setting). Then leave it be... Most probly, u will find ur clown in the anemone the next morning! I was lucky in the sense that my clown hangs ard the surface so its no issue catching him, and im able to rest the net against my LR easily without much shifting. During this procedure, i have witness the clown recceing the anemone constantly, going alittle by little towards the bta until it eventually dove right in. The trick to this method is to not having any gaps for the clown to escape the net. Im not sure if this method is a 100% foolproof, or if it have been posted in the past. Just thought i will share my experience here for those who are like me... desperately annoyed at the stubborn fish! Thanks for reading! Ps. Sorry for the long post....
