  1. Ya bro, Another interesting observation from the trip there in May, the intense light seems to start around 9-10am to around 4pm only after which it gets dimmer and dimmer. By around 5.30pm local time, underwater is starting difficult to see clearly from a distance. By around 6pm it is almost sunset. Seems that in nature ocean, the shallow water inhabitants get around 6-8 hours of good bright light. The deep water one should get lesser period. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  2. I think Pinnacle has many. But confirm with them the polyp color. I got mine from them. Super magnificent and not expensive. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
  3. Zooxantellae is algae that performs photosyntesis. In photosynthesis, the algae produce energy by using CO2 as one of the component and the end product is energy + oxygen. Therefore, probably Oxygen is likely increased (not decreased). Browing of corals means density of the zooxantellae increased to compensate the lack of energy produced due to the lack of light. More specifically lack of Photosynthetic useable radiation (PUR). I read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coral_bleaching'>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coral_bleaching Therefore, temperature should be more related to coral ability to supply zooxantellae the materials for photosyntesis than for concentration of zooxantellae that affects the coloration/pigmentation. 4. I am feeding by mixing ReefPearls with ocean nutrition. Alternate with mysis and chopped market prawn. Definitely he fish loves market prawn the most however it contains high phosphate while ReefPearls contains very low phosphate. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  5. bro LFS seems to be having lots of purple tang and sohal shipment. One of it is Aquarist Chamber (sponsor) Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
  6. Some reefers in western countries who live in landed property drill hole on the roof and channel the light to the tank. There is a catch though. Since sunlight temperature is at most daylight or cool white during cloudy day, not blue enough to make the coral nice color visible. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
  7. I think then in this case, certain acro and stag horn can withstand higher temperature (the one live in shallow area). But the ones live deeper may not survive. In our hobby we keep various corals and not all can withstand higher temperature unless we keep only those live on shallow water. so the conclusion is then we cannot keep temperature at 29 deg due to some corals will not be able to survive. 8. During lowest tide some acro are actually exposed on air direct on sun. They produce slime to protect against the heat though. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
  9. actually at some point it is 30 deg celsius but up and down between 29 and 30 it is under water temperature measured using my Casio Protrek attached to swimming pant. Body temperature should not affect much because the water was moving. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
  10. Buy a tang to help cleaning the algae bro. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  11. Bro James, Will 3 days black out affect corals? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  12. bro try check with gemsurf (sponsor) Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
  13. Aquarist Chamber got many purple tang and sohal tangs (Small, medium, large) Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
  14. I was surprised that SPS can generally do well in day time temperature of 29 to 30 degree celsius. I am currently at Vilamendhoo resort Maldives that has one of the best house reef. Lots of SPS on shallow water. This means that if we are keeping shallow water SPS we can keep our chiller to 29 deg without issue. May be only need to chill down if keeping deeper water SPS. The water temperature here in the morning and afternoon are generally warm. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
  15. Just adding a bit more detail. The one that dissolve calcium carbonate substance e.g. coral chips is actually acidity. CO2 make the water acid (by which in the chemical reaction releases H+ that makes the water acid) but it has to be done in the reactor otherwise the marine live stock which use to live with ph around 8 will not survive. In marine tank, our ph around 8 will not dissolve coral chips since it is alkaline (not acid). Coral chips is used in fresh water fish tank tp buffer PH. It happens when PH in the tank becomes acid (PH below 7) and hence starts resolving the chips slowly releasing the the make up components like calcium, carbonate, mg, phosphate, etc. The carbonate will help to bring the PH up slightly (the buffering effect). 18. Could it be the sugar that is in play here? (We know that sugar is also one source of carbon) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  19. When Algae is dominant. It is going to be a challenge to make the bacteria win. Some more algae in display tank has the advantage of getting the nutrient before the bacteria. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
  20. Going to be really sorry if it crashes Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
  21. Bro, If got a lot of algae, the biofuel may be useless. It is better to solve the algae first if the algae is dominant and out of control. The problem is that the biofuel provide carbon source for bacteria to grow and bind nitrate/phosphate but with algae dominating, the bacteria will not have sufficient material to grow (overtaken by algae); bacteria is in the loser side. When algae is under control then biofuel will help to keep them at bay more effectively. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  22. Actually puffers loves crustacean and molluscs. They are greedy eater (eat a lot and get hungry easily). So, it is still risky for the snails, shrimps, crabs even if they are well fed. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
