got 10 anthias (Lyretail). I am observing if they maintain weight or losing weight to know if the feeding is sufficient.
-
Yes yes. I have feeding like crazy everyday since keeping anthias. Mysis morning and night (roughly 1 cube perday) 1 teaspoon of mixed pellet different sizes as the main meal in evening. Autofeeder timer set at 4x per day (2pm 4pm 6pm and 10pm) feeding dried Cyclopeeze Manual dried Cyclopeeze feeding 2x after the main meal. Every other day additional seaweed for the tangs. Once / twice a week, small market prawn treat for the trigger fish Occasional chilled arthemia feeding at night

Bro, Actually when a fish is said to be not reef safe, we should not swallow it as it is but to probe further in what sense. I am keeping the following not reef safe fish: * Coris wrasse (adult about 5" long). It is said to be not reef safe. But no source really specify on what it is not safe. Some said it will shrimp ans crabs and will turn over rocks. Since I do not keep shrimp, then it is okay. I have kept it for almost half a year and I love it. * Schooling banner fish (false moorish idol). Yes it occasionally nip on SPS polyp but it does not damage it. The damage is negligible, unnoticeable. It is such a beautiful fish. I have kept for about 1-2 months. * Vagabond butterfly. Yes it occasionally nips on SPS polyp but again no noticeable damage. It is with me together with the false moorish idol about 1-2 months. * Yellow clown goby. It fed on SPS polyps, but also no real damage. It some times hit the Vagabond butterfly with much bigger size to defend the coral it is staying on. The butterfly is scared of it and would run away. So basically not reef safe should not be just generalized and avoided. But it should be understood in what context and what the consequences are before deciding. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

SPS: what's possible and impossible
solasido replied to christan1959's topic in SPS and Advanced Reefkeepers Forum
True bro. My parameter has been stable recently on CR. The only problem is sometimes the return effluent flow got stuck, not sure the cause yet. Probably due to the small grain media that I used. Other than that the the parameter is quite stable. Another thing is on auto water top up. Mine has a stable 2 liter per day water evaporation. So if going away for more than 1 week, then need someone to help topping up the DI water reservoir. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Unfortunately not possible for SPS. Manual dosing may still work to certain extend (as opposed to automated). I used to manually pour carbonate and calcium in the morning and at night (2x a day). But no water testing is almost not possible as we will not know when the parameters need to be corrected. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Bro, Go to AVA website and apply for import permit. I guess you will also need to setup a company to do the import. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Prevent/minimize fishy smell of the water
solasido replied to solasido's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Thanks bros. I will probably try to increase my activated carbon. I am a bit adamant to over adding activated carbon due to the negative impact. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Bros, Any idea on how to prevent/minimize fishy water smell in the tank with still keeping with heavy feeding? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

URGENT: Want to borrow fish trap for brown tang and blue lip angel
solasido replied to Spencer Lim's topic in Swop Shop
bro I found a good trick If you have the quarantine acrylic boxes Just put it on, open up one side and get the fish use to it for few days Try to always feed them from inside of the quarantine box. Once they feel comfortable with going in to it, feed them in there and close the side. That's it I caught many fish already this way without the need to chase around. -
Large Angel for SPS dominated tank
solasido replied to tench1's topic in SPS and Advanced Reefkeepers Forum
Nip a bit is okay as long as don't damage. The beauty of the fish worth more than the little damage. I am in the middle of experimenting with butterfly fish in my tank now. So far so good. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

skimmer will help to skim them out actually some bit amount of bacteria can be food for the coral the concern here is low level of oxygen and light due to the cloudiness
