  3. I did some investigation; Basically that Bayer Advanced Insect Killer active ingredients are: http://www.bayeradvanced.com/system/product_variants/label_pdfs/000/000/045/original_Complete-Insect-Killer-40oz-CON.pdf Imidacloprid and Beta-cyfluthrin Out of these 2, the one toxic to fish and invertebrate is primarily Cyfluthrin (read here: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyfluthrin) Now, these 2 ingredients are basically insecticides. From NEA website we can trace what products in Singapore contain such ingredients. Look here: http://app2.nea.gov.sg/docs/default-source/services-and-forms/list-of-licensees/here.pdf?sfvrsn=0 Based on the product lists here, most of the Bayer cockroaches bait gel in Singapore contains Imidacloprid. While cyfluthrin is contained in Baygon All Insect Killer. There is a product called Temprid SC that contains these 2 ingredients sold/used by pest control company in Singapore: http://www.environmentalscience.bayer.sg/Pest-Management/WhereToBuyPestManagement.aspx http://equitchem.com/products.html In short, we may be able to find equivalent in Singapore; no need to order from US Just go to supermarket, find the insect killer section and check the ingredients especially that Cyfluthrin. 4. Btw, I think one way to identify if an LFS is an exporter is by seeing if it participate in Regional or international trade events like Aquarama, Interzoo, MACNA. that is when they have chance to introduce their offerings and to link up/cooperate with other service/product providers (as a seller and/or as the distributor). 5. Some more, in SG the market is so small. How many people are active reefers here. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Iwarna rears their own designer clowns. Probably that is one source of export revenue. Looks like Iwarna tried to source revenue from wide range of products and services, Including being distributor for certain products. Just like AM that has their own skimz products and the salt. As for live stocks, I think only high value shipments really make a lot of money. For low value, it will only make money when the volume is high. What I observe is that Ah Beng is playing on the high volume low value market. We can see how pack the shop is with livestocks on Thu/Fri and Sat morning but on Sun afternoon, many livestocks are gone. Looks like the turnover is high, hence the profit. As for CF, since Singapore does not produce the lives stocks, I recon that CF provides staging/quarantine services for the fish to be consolidated, before sending to foreign countries. Else it does not make sense for the consumer to buy at higher price from CF than directly from Bali or the Philippines. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. ATI t5 has better reflector that make the light "brighter", and with cooling mechanism, the t5 last a bit longer. ATI claims that their product is 30% brighter. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. check out this stunning "Peter's Tank" tank, lighted up by Orphek LED. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uKCLuIYBx30 Do not know how many units of Orphek. This guy must be super rich. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. We cannot deny that to run the state and longterm survival, all govs definitely need money. The money allows the gov to do many things like strengthen defense, build infra, strategic initiatives, etc. There are many ways to source for the money including what the gov tries to earn from land use. The "problem" is our gov is very good at maximising income for the state. To be fair, gahmen also does good jobs although also with area that we disagree. We need them to have heart and not too focus on profit/lost making. With the last election result at least there is change and the gahmen now is more social. Just hope that the trend continues. As for question on how to fund the social, gahmen should not just earn money from inside of the country but also from the world e.g. via state enterprises. And that can be used to take care better of the citizens. We also need Singaporean entrepreneurs that are social who make success but still care for the people of his country. I know that Philips takes care of the Dutch very well in Holland. They have become world wide company and they make proud of the Dutch. I know because I saw how my friends there who worked for Philips and they were so proud of it as Philips gave them employment, work life balance, sponsorship to study master/PhD. Basically Philips in a way allocate some of its earning to develop/take care of their people.
  10. True bro. Wet market sold to private e.g. ShengSiong, sure they can monopolize the price. Hawker stalls tender/valuation based on market price, this will definitely increase the price and directly affect hawker food price. I totally disagree with these things. It is just too capitalistic approach. There are basic things that should not be capitalized especially those for basic necessities. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Bro, I read that starfish is very sensitive to sudden change in PH, salinity, temp. They should be dripped acclimated to have higher survival chance. Once they survive they need to be fed in home aquarium setup. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. This is the red spot tail cardinal I was referring to. Very cool!
  13. Bro, Cyano outbreak for new tank looks normal. After sometimes they should be gone. You can buy from LFS the powder to kill the cyano. Very effective. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Seriously, farms add to uniqueness of Singapore. It is an attraction by itself. I once show Pasir Ris farms to some tourist guests and they were impressed with such developed country and scarse land we still have farming area with well built / maintained road. It was a good excursion that they enjoyed.
  15. It is around 5 inch size. It eats prawn with the shell, just like my trigger fish. One funny thing, sometimes when it is busy searching for critters underneath rocks, sometimes when it feels present of certain fish threaten it's snack, it would try to chase away from that area (but not to the point of chasing all the way like tangs with new tangs). Once it tried to chase away my trigger fish but my trigger counter back as if saying "hey, who are you, dare to chase me??" and the coris was like "oppps" and submit to the trigger.
  16. I am keeping one. Not really aggressive from the specimen I have. Most of the time just keep to itself like an autis fish.
  17. PasirRis farm also almost kana last year, but seems that now can extend a few more years. Looks like all farms need to move to pulau Ubin sooner or later, sigh. The problem is always that the tenants will need to rent a new place and new place many of the time entails higher rental cost, sigh.. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Seems that artica is much more efficient in the heat transfer and energy usage to drive the condenser. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Wow, in China tab water has TDS 500ppm reading! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. Bringing in fish/coral to SG rule on AVA is just one side of the coin ie. from SG gov side. Still got to check originating country fish/coral export rule. E.g. If bring fish out from Indonesia, need to get a quarantine pass letter first that cost about US$30 or so else the flight cannot bring out from the country. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. bro PH controller not really necessary. I follow Deltec calcium reactor guide and not using PH controller at all for my Bubble Magnus CR. http://www.theaquariumsolution.com/setting-deltec-calcium-reactor Having said that l, I do have PH probe from my ReefAngel where I can see the tank PH. It does not control my CR though. I use solenoid to make sure that CO2 is cut off when no power.
  22. Miniature tank may still be suitable for freshwater fish e.g. betta but it will not be suitable for marine fish as the salinity fluctuation will be high. There are several good freshwater LFS like Nanyang Sea View at Seletar farmway and Clementi blk 328
  23. Bro, Need to mix tap water with anti chlorine and chloramine first before topping up the tank. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
