  1. Hi bro, heavy breathing can be a sign of ich parasite. Do you spot any white spots in any of the fish? The spot can be very tiny like a fine grain sand. Any fish that you add will be infected by the parasite and die few days later.
  2. Reviving this thread. Any bro tried such DIY?
  3. I think no shop around bugis, city hall selling this even pet lovers shop. Must go LFS.
  4. Hi bro, it is a standalone hang on skimmer. It works quite well in the sense that every 2-3 days I need to empty the cup, meaning that the skimming works quite okay.
  5. Wow there are many kind bros here giving foc
  6. Hi bro, how to differentiate lumi and non-lumi star? Do we put them under blue lighting to compare the luminosity or it is visible bare eye on daylight lighting? I am still trying to figure out if my "Bali star" coral is a lumi or non lumi star polyp.
  7. Yes, true. Just now just watch Suria TV channel on "Jalan Jalan" tv program to Ternate (somewhere between Sulawesi and Molluca in Indonesia), the sea is so beautiful with various fish including big domino damsels.
  8. Wah.. Green spotted puffer is already a fierce fish, but grouper is even more fierce and targeting the puffer. Actually puffer has poison, so the grouper may die if it manage to eat the puffer.
  9. Thermoelectric consumes too much power for the cooling that it can provide. It is still better to get a chiller.
  10. Hi bro, even more budget, but quite good: Jebo skimmer cost $20+ I bought from aquamarine. But it is for nano tank, it serve me well for few months already (my tank is 20g)
  11. Bro, you can buy water clearing solution from LFS. I bought Seachem brand from aquamarine (clear water), if not wrong it coats around 2 red notes.
  12. Hi bro, since you have done weekly water change, skimmer may not be required. Reference: http://www.nano-reef.com/articles/?article=3 Protein skimmers are beneficial however, because they remove excess nutrients from the water, but this advantage is out weighed by the disadvantages. To remove the excess nutrients from this system you do a partial water change. The water change also doubles to replenish your trace elements, which are in your synthetic sea salt. Nitrates are removed, dissolved organic compounds are removed, and your trace elements are replaced. Your nitrates will always be at or near zero, and the elements will stay at a consistant level.
  13. oh, ya, i have an aggressive blue damsel fish, which i keep together in my brackish water tank (with the puffers)
  14. hi bro, i am keeping green spotted puffer in brackish water (SG 1.010) there should be no issue acclimating them to full marine, e.g. SG 1.001 per day over 1-2 weeks. this is the same case as marine fish hypo-salinity treatment where we need to gradually increase the salinity to full marine. Plaza Sg fish shop is selling fish at too high mark up. I also noticed they put this puffers few weeks ago when i passed by. 1 green spotted puffer only cost $1.5 to $2 in local fish store (seaview has the healthiest stocks compared to other shops). Plaza Sg, if not wrong they are selling >$10
  15. Hi bros, I bought Bali Star coral from Jireh Marine weeks ago. Is this the same as GSP? For GSP, are there non-lumi GSP and lumi GSP? I tried googling but cannot find answer for this. Thanks, bros.
  16. It kicks in at 28 and stop at 27. My anemone was sick and died since I installed chiller. Before this it was very healthy with me for past 2 months I thought the weather is getting hot these few weeks and I want to keep it <= 28c. But it created adverse effect on my anemone. Coral seems okay so far.
  17. hi bros, if a chiller bring down 1c degree in 1 hour for 20G tank, is this too fast? will this harm live stock? thanks, bros.
  18. bro, cycling, i am using bacteria culture so, i NEVER do cycling. what i do is to put bacteria culture, let the system run for 24 hours, then i start putting fish liao. after 2 weeks, i put hard coral liao. no problem i ever encountered. i do the same for both my fresh and marine tanks.
  19. bro, if you are keeping fish only tank and hardy fish (damsel, clown), i think tab water (dechlorined) is fine (in Singapore context). I have tried this and so far so good.
  20. I meant hypo salinity or normal salinity (typo error because of this iPad keyboard)
