I also second that on dimming LED. LED dimming is using PWM. That means that there is flickering unseen to human eyes. We do not know how it affects zooxantellae and the host. Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 2

Hi fellow reefers, I am selling the items below bought from another bro that I have *never* used at all after buying. I have to sell due to change of plan to have a bigger tank than these equipments can accommodate. Hailea 300A chiller - $210 (it was only used 8 months) Reef Octopus OTP-2000 Skimmer for 4-5ft tank - $170 (used 1yr) Please PM me if interested. Please refer to this post for the original sale: -
I was surprised this morning noticing something resembling a baby sea urchin hiding in the rock. The size is about 0.9cm Any bro can help to confirm if this is indeed a baby sea urchin?

I have submitted mine successfully just now My main point is: Conservation does not mean that we let the corals un-poached in the sea and do nothing on them. We let them in the sea and they will slowly die for sure because the world is not going to successfully limit carbon emissions significantly. The world population keeps increasing and this driving demands that in various ways contribute to carbon emission. It is also a tough political decision. Conservation means that we find a way, not only to protect them, but to create an environment for them to thrive. This is what exactly, we as responsible reef keepers are doing. We create an environment as close as possible for the corals to thrive. There are many successful reef keepers that even propagate their corals for sharing or trade between the hobbyists. Prohibiting trade does not address issue of conservation. Prohibition is only a blanket rule and laziest way to do something in the name of conservation. It is like burning the whole house to kill a mouse in the house. The correct way for conservation is to campaign for responsible reef keeping via education, sharing of knowledge in Internet forums, and if this is not enough, I would like to propose "Certification" on reef keeping. This means that: * A customer who would like to purchase a species, will need to have the knowledge on the species and in what kind of environment it thrives. He will need to be certified. * NOAA should provide certification on stony-coral keeper. * Only certified keepers are allowed to purchase the coral from local fish shop. In this way, we mobilize stony-coral keepers in the world to play part in conservation.

Hi Guys, I received a newsletter from CORAL magazine on this urgent issue as NOAA is going to ban SPS trade and it may impact world wide trade on SPS. The article is here http://hosted.vresp.com/252795/0897c9dbf0/1415012889/cb5f486cb2/ http://www.reef2rainforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/US-NOAA-Coral-Species-Listing-II_ALT.pdf There is on going debate that aquarium trade contribute to coral destruction. There are valid arguments on both camps. Shall we also contribute our comment? The dead line is 6 APRIL US time that is around Sunday noon our time. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

This looks like a fibre optic SPS frag. Keeping water param stable is more important. Ca looks a bit on the high side (440-450 should be good). I suggest keeping your dKh as it is for now. Also need to make sure that your SPS is placed at good water movement area but not in front of the wave maker. It also needs good lighting. Your tank looks dim. What is your tank temperature like? Heard that St. John Islands actually got nice beach and clean sea water. And Chek Jawa got various LPS-es. If culturing in the sea, only need regular monitoring because light, various elements and nutrient would have been from the sun and the sea itself. Should be quite low cost. I think if got MP or minister who is member of SgReefClub then may be they can push for it

I am wondering, if Singapore has such variety of corals: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cat64fish/sets/72157594364391590/ Why the gahmen never has initiative to aquaculture more type of corals here? It is definitely something very good to have our own coral garden for research, education and tourism. Is it because our sea water parameter or temperature not good enough?

Hi bro, I think, need to make sure that you have permit to bring out the fish from Thailand. They may have their own regulation (for instance for Indonesia, they require a quarantine passed letter). On Singapore side, AVA website has clearly defined the amount of fish that an individual is permitted to bring in without permit.

Bro, just buy a UPS (uninterrupted power supply) for the pump at least. It should be sufficient until you return home. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Your SPS is growing and consuming carbonate from the water. Try to measure everyday and calculate the difference then dose to maintain the level for more stable water param. As the SPS grows, it will consumes even more elements. So if your water volume is small, it is advisable to measure the params every 2-3 days to make sure that the parameters are stable. Anyidea where to get DI resin beside MadPetz? It seems that there is no stock in MadPetz.

Hi bro, You can hatch yourself, quite easy to do. The LFS says that supply from Thailand no more. Not sure why. I went Jatujak market last month, there got a lot of live adult Brine shrimp. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
