  1. Ever since seeing how coral polyps including SPS eat food, I got addicted feeding them (but got to watch out NO3 and Po4 level). I feed my corals (sps and lps) on chopped market prawn. Simple, cheap and good. Prata grows very well with feeding. Pink stylo, pink pocci, lumi pocci seem to grow better also. Once a week, feed with oysterfeast. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  2. Actually if you want to go straight to Iwarna, the nearest is alighting 1 stop before The White Water condo. Then walk following the the river, the exit is actually Pasir Ris Farmway 3 that is where Iwarna is. But if let's say want to visit all LFS there, then it is better to stop at The White Water then walk to Pasir Ris Farmway 2, can visit Pinnacle first then Ah Beng, Auntie shop, then Iwarna. 3. Iwarna to the Lorong Halus bridge is probably around 10-15 mins. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  4. Hi bro, I think it is about 15-20 mins from Iwarna to Popeyes fried chicken there. It is not that far. While walking, can enjoy the tranquility and also watching aero modelling folks flying the planes on the fields. I walk quite often. Sometimes from there to Punggol, sometimes back to the bus stop and take bus to Pasir Ris MRT. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  5. Bro, Take bus 58, 88, 359 from Pasir Ris Interchange. I think it is about 6 stops. If you live in Punggol, especially Punggol East, actually you can walk through Lorong Halus. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  6. Bro, Any plan for a quarantine tank? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  7. Check with Vincent (aquarium artist)? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  8. If they are pregnant but no male to fertilize, can the eggs hatch?
  9. Also there seems to be no SPS on sale. Only LPS.
  10. Bro, I have similar experience. After moving out the 6 line for about few weeks and place it back, they can live in harmony. Few months later, I suspect that now the 6 line is being bullied as the tail is nipped. I can only suspect the clown as it is bigger than the 6 line. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  11. Aha, now I see that Hannah testers come to rescue for color blind reefers Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  12. As for UV, when we go for snorkling we feel the intense UV effect especially if not using sun screen. I believe coral reef especially those on shallower area are exposed to intense UV from the sun too. Therefore they develop the pigment to counter the UV rays.
  13. I guess it is a hyper violet. However there are UV led with spectrum <400nm if we Google. Just that the one used in my full spectrum par38 is still visible, hence I guess it is a hyoer violet.
  14. Yes, white and blue can only grow coral including sps but it does not develop the coral pigments and bring up the color. You can try to google for light spectrum of MH light and T5. Nowadays many Marine tank LED light manufacturer tries to mimic the full spectrum, not perfect but it is getting close. This is because LED has narrower peak spectru.. UV is also an important spectrum component to encourage pigment development. I conducted an experiment using par38 full spectrum LED that includes 1 UV (it seems to be a hyper violed). From my observation on these 2 sps that is placed on the spot covered by the UV led: Initial stage: * Yellow/orange pocci initial color is yellowish * Purple valida with pale purple tip, but has good growth (keep encrusting) After about 1+ month exposed to the full spectrum LED and that UV led: * Yellow/orange pocci color becomes purplish color (including when viewed at night when light is off). I guess that it now develops this pigment to filter out intense UV rays as reflected color are photons that arenot absorbed. * Puple valida tips now has developed into intense purple color. I bought a setosa frag sometimes ago with so nice redish fluorescent that becomes light orange under white/blue led. I plan to do experiment by putting it under more intense UV coverage to observe the reaction. The problem is that from the 2 units of full spectrum LED that I bought, 1 has the UV spoiled and I had to replaced myself with a blue one so I am only left with 1 UV that is being used to observe the pocci and valida.
  15. Hi bro Take bus from pasir ris bus interchange. Stop at bus stop in front of The White Water condo. Then walk to pasir ris farm (10-15mins walk)
  16. Including wrasses Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  17. Seems to be parasites. Keep them stress free is most important. Then have good food and hopefully they will gain strength to fight the parasites. But they will become carrier and any new fish may get infected. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  18. Would you mind please sharing why choosing apex over reef angel controller? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  19. I am using both. But somehow the microbacter caused slime algae. The biofuel works great if Phosphate and NO3 are balanced, ie. it will not work if PO4 is very low and NO3 is high. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  20. By right natural ocean water salinity is around 1.026 (35 ppt) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  21. From my observation. Clownfish will eventually host the most formidable host that can protect them. But before that they need "training". The most benign stinging coral is probably gonio. And gonio has long tentacles that can hide the clowns from predators. The next they will try to host is hammer or frogspawn that has more deadly sting than gonio. I now believe that when clownfish often seen sucking on the host tentacles are away to keep the host familiar with their body slime and do not treat them as foreign object which it will sting. Slowly if there is anemones they will try to host it. I have observed how my clownfish carefully host an anemones. It will not be immediate. It will start slowly and carefully introducing its presence to get the anemones familiar with it before fully hosting it. This can take a few days. When the clownfish have never host an anemones, a new anemones is a new creature to them that they do not know if it poses threat or not. Until they get comfortable with the anemones presence then they will start "engaging" it. My clownfish first host my hammer after 1 month. When I introduced gonio, it try to host after 1-2 weeks but as a 2nd host (just for another playing ground). when they sleep, they still sleep on the hammer. I introduced a carpet anemones Afterwards. It takes few months before the clown switch to carpet anemones and now they never look back because the carpet is the most formidable host to them now. They sleep and play most of the time on the carpet anemones and occasionally play on the hammer. But a night they sleep on the anemones. They have totally abandoned the gonio. It is a different case with clownfish that have hosted anemones before. In this case, when they recognize an anemones and they do not have a host yet, they will quickly engage the anemone. 24. Hi fellow reefers, Need advice. If I want to keep many kind of clownfish; ocellaris, true perculla, clarkii, tomato, maroon, skunk, platinum clowns/black ice/Picasso, etc. yes, a fan of clownfish here Assuming the tank size is 5ft, keeping a pair of each of the kind: * is this workable? * in which order they should be introduced? 25. At Sim Lim tower, i think should be around $40+ Try to check with several shops. Last time I bought one to replace my Lumen Aqua power adapter, the best deal was from a shop on 1st floor. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
