  1. Totally agree. Still looking for red torch/hammer/frogspawn. Choosing these as they belong to same family, lesser harm compare to other corals. I hope to have them next to each other. Saw torch at Golden octopus placed just next to hammer without any issues. Even bubble coral also place beside hammer. Will eventually get some brains corals for their nice colors. Anyone seen red hammer/torch/frogspawn around any lfs?
  2. Yes!! The fake coral blocks the view and cause my tank to look small. thank you!
  3. Bro Ken, hope you can make a return in the future. Your tank is really nice
  4. Hi all, it's me the newbie again. ^^ It has been about 3 months since my last setup in May 2014. After going through hair algae outbreak and whatnot. I had heeded some advices and improved on my tank. First picture with fake corals are previous setup. Which was advised to remove due to detritus buildup and algae. Second picture is my current LPS tank. just added some corals and they have yet to expand wide. Will be looking into more corals and coloration.
  5. Haha. I asked same question with no response too. ^^ My settings are 0000 0:1 0030 0:0 0600 0:0 1400 60:70 2000 40:50 2200 0:10 I copied from reef central and increased by 10:10 @ 1400 and 2200 as my corals are used to bright lights previously. Monitoring and so far my lps doing fine. You may want to increase for sps.
  6. I don't think it runs full wattage of 100 watt 24/7. Possibly only run when activated. So a clearer check would be how long it requires for chiller to kick in and how long it takes to chill. That may be a better gauge?
  7. I wonder if siphoning helps to remove them? I really don't know and asking to learn ^^
  8. Woohoo.. very tempting. nice shots there!
  9. Diatoms on rocks or glass? It appears to me that all these are quite natural when starting marine. They will eventually be managed when tank matures.
  10. Haha. It's amazing at times that easier to keep creatures can't survive a better tank but harder to keep creature strive in smaller tank. Would love to see your tank in couple of months again. By then the corals would have grown. ^^
  11. Great idea! Thanks for sharing this creative idea!
  12. Telling you that it's a risk: http://saltaquarium.about.com/cs/compldiagnodisease/a/aa041701.htm Telling you that it's alright: http://www.thereeftank.com/forums/f6/my-clown-fish-has-black-spots-175786.html Let's see if others can better advice
  13. Wow. Need a good trap for the fish. Try to siphon it when that bug falls off?
  14. Aquapharm ich solution. I tried in my reef tank and they are fine. LPS including alveopora tested. Not an issue. Not sure about other types of coral
  15. Interesting. First time see this. But totally agree to quarantine it to prevent spread.
  16. Observe feeding pattern as what snoopyhamburger has shared. If not affected, leave it. Then continue to monitor if it is spreading to other places. As of not the picture quite blur, very hard to tell.
  17. Enjoying my read about royal gramma. Certainly did not regret getting one! Would like to understand the average lifespan of royal gramma in captivity. Anyone have been keeping for more than 2 years?
  18. Impressed by the small tank size yet so beautifully decorated.
  19. Saeight shared very well ^^ equipment wise try to get from forum. can save more. The idea of touching coral means spending. If not you will be busy fire fighting the tank problems like algae and parameter mess instead of enjoying with your new born. My 2ft tank costs me easily 4 digits to settle it down without casualties in corals and fishes. but it's worth the price. Buy bit by bit. Keep a look out at forum as I believe some bros are releasing equipments recently.
  20. My resolution for high parameter 1) Biopellets (NP pellets) 2) nitrate/ammonia/phosphate filter mat 3) de*nitrator 4) skimmer 5) macroalgae 6) no3 removal + liquid carbon 7) time (they require time to settle down)
  21. I used beetle air pump (tried 2 outlet model and single outlet model) both are able to skim well. It shocks me that single outlet skims better than dual outlet model despite dual outlet model having more litre/hr output. Consider changing the stone after 1-2 mths, depending on the damage on the stone. It helps to skim better.
  22. I just got maxspect razor 60w for my 2ft. With the wide angle it's just fine and corals are showing good response to it. If ur depth is that deep, maybe a maxspect razor 120w would serve well.
  23. White can turn black.. over time... haha. Black cannot turn white over time.. :X I chose white cuz it's easier to get.
  24. Both tank looks very nice. From your sharing, have to work on minimizing wattage and bills then. Heheh. Not sure if you noticed aquaspeed pump, less wattage and more flowrate. As for compressor.. I can't comment much. Haha. Leave to masters to help advice ^^
