  1. Support you for the HOB Skimmer. I am also using this skimmer and so far very positive experience with this for my 2ft ios tank. Skims very well, especially after adding phos removal. It's a good price.
  2. Reminds me of my Euphyllia garden. Some need more to do well, another need little to do well. =.= whatever website suggests can only be a guide, not applicable to all. Really have to hands on to see and adjust. My thought on this case is temp + salinity. Increase to 8.2 and probably may be different? But if u see brown jelly, it's almost GG. Lost many lps to that despite treatment before putting in display.
  3. Nice! I saw that and tempted to buy. Haha. Yep. Weekly water change is sufficient. Just make sure you use Rodi or distilled water for salt mix.
  4. Haha. let me monitor 1 more month to play safe. Now restoring my sun coral, almost died from lack of feeding. Been feeding daily and now it's opening up more nicely.
  5. My experience with biosphere seems to work faster than 3-4 weeks. Measured 1 week later and able to see significant drop. I used NP biopellets also. My filtration system: Biopellets tlf modified De*nitrator which has been used for 2yrs. Lol, still working fine after rinsing. =.= Nitrate and phosphate removing wool Biosphere And oversized skimmer. Able to bring high no3 to 5ppm last measured 19 April 2015. Used biofuel + az-NO3 removal in the past to temporarily bring down no3. Until Henry recommended biosphere, and proved to work well for me. NO3 increased in 3 mths time after biosphere depleted to a certain amount. Then top up and back to good range.
  6. Took my tank 1 yr to stabilize with parameter suitable for reefing. New tank syndrome will proceed with all the no3, algae issues etc. :/ diatom, hair algae, bubble, then eventually kelp or coralline algae. don't give up, I lost my Euphyllia garden and a good batch of fishes... =.= Let nature takes its course and when stabilize alrdy, u will be enjoying it once again. Heheh. Try biosphere, I used that and the PO4+no3 dropped drastically. Couple with no3 and PO4 removal filter wool.
  7. I use a small wavemaker to stir up waste and let filter do its job. I will on for a few mins each day/alternate day. Reason being in small tank, more current = higher temp. Just sharing my experience from low maintenance keeping. ^^
  8. Removed big rock to create space and visual pleasure. Fishes are seen to be more active instead of hiding in rock.
  9. Just a little update. Tank is more stabilized by now. Parameters are consistent. NO3 PO4 etc are very low(insignificant) and coralline algae are growing. Added coral beauty and it's healthily pecking on food, leaving sps and my tiny lps survivor alone. Cleared some bristle worms, tiny pyramid snails, vertimid snails etc. Now it is safer to reef. ^^
  10. Looking for yasha white ray shrimp goby, anyone spotted? http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=15+31+1145&pcatid=1145 Anyway, saw some Christmas feather dusters at FnM Macpherson. nice though. AM still have sps, blastO and some big nice clownfish.
  11. 1ft liverock with 1 tubeworm for only $10 Shape is good for placement of corals. Non-copper treated. Clearing due to re-scape. 12. Hi, wonder what kind of macro algae and where is collection venue. Thank you!
  13. Erm, pardon a noob here in bringing livestock from overseas. Been wanting to do so but don't know how. What are the things to look out for at custom/airport? Do I need to declare or no need to declare if within the limit? Heheh. Sorry ah, very noob question.
  14. Read from news, 10 years, but 2 years and $$$$$ to build facilities, 3yrs for certain crops/livestocks to mature, and then 5 years to recoup. Sure price hike before their lease ends. Price increase also means lesser customer and eventually ppl will leave the industry cuz cannot sustain themselves.
  15. Clown: tomato? Blood red, very nice/ maroon/ normal Ocellaris clown Dartfish: fire dartfish Angelfish: yellow/coral beauty/ dunno what else. Damsels/chromis/ Blue tang Yellow goby Sweetlips Some wrasse I think Can't remb all.
  16. Just went irwana. Indeed many corals and very nice. Fish wise very limited. A lot of nice sps às showed. Went ah beng but closed. 3plus and 5 plus also closed. Went AM, more fishes. And was informed next shipment will have more corals and fishes. So stay tuned.
  17. looking for a variety of dartfish, anyone seen them within the same lfs/farm?
  18. Good question. I also not sure. Only read on oversea forum last time when I explore and research on medias. That's why I put may expect. If base on experience, nitrate remains stagnant until bacteria builds up then starts to reduce. That's my personal experience which is more legit as it's more qualitative. ^^ Anw, dinGdinG, if you are staying in the north, I can dig some de*nitrator for u if I can find. Remb had a lot but did exhaust all.
