  8. Just curious kh is very easy to test using normal test kit. As long as you know whether u r 7dkh or 8dkh is good enough. Is it necessary to know if u r 7.56dkh instead of 7.84dkh? Sorry for asking stupid question.
  9. I agree. I believe once your nitrate is at the right level, mark the biopellet level in the reactor and only top up small amount occasionally just to maintain the same level of biopellet. Do not dump in cups of biopellet like what I did and my nitrate dropped out of sudden and shocked all my livestock.

  13. Sounds like you have anaerobic bacteria growing in your DIY RODI unit. The smell is probably hydrogen sulphide. I'm curious to know if you actually test the water using TDS meter and what is the reading.
  14. I was told by Madpetz Ken that biopellet only dissolve as and when carbon is needed. Ultimately, the rate of growth of bacteria is dependent on the food source (in this case nitrate). If the nitrate in the tank is low, bacteria can only multiply so much. So the consumption of carbon will reduce. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
  15. what about protein? I thought protein skimmer should skim out protein.
  16. Ask Ashwin. He went skimmerless for almost a week. hahahaha
  17. Bro, can elaborate why vinegar is safer than biopellet?
