I use a razor and I find that you have to play around with the white and blue combination to get the luminous color of the zoas. Usuall 40% white and 100% blue works for me.
Wat u mentioned is a DI unit. Not RO (reverse osmosis). For DI it may work but the DI will exhaust very quickly without RO. For RO u need high pressure of 40-50psi so canister filter cannot do.
These days RO/DI unit is very affordable. U can enquire to one of the sponsor here Madpetz.
MD55 is a high pressure pump and consume a lot of electricity. I don't think u can open it up to clean also. May be u should buy another dc pump to standby or get a eheim 1262.
Good suggestion. I think with the China pump, it is best to either run 2x china pump, or run 1 china and 1 eheim. This will prevent disaster as chances of having 2 china pump fail will be low.
