  1. Just been there. They are setting up new tank -- looks like a 4 footer with a MH lamp above..apparantly he had quite a few ppl commenting on how inadequate his lighting was.. so I guess he decided to do something about it! Oh...he said he has two types of LR -- one @ 10/kg and another selling at $7/kg...I think can get some discount if you talk to him. Saw few of them, they had bit of sponge on them and white patches on the $7 one..Is this ok? There are some new corals as well, which he says are cheaper than what you can find in CF... Hope this helps, BrownSugar
  2. tks nutx..intend to get abt ~10Kg...Intend to check out LCK/Farmart/Toa Payoh in the next few days...
  3. Yes, I meant silicon gel..don't think silica has any 'glueable' properties..
  4. Just wondering -- when you stack LR together do you use silica or something else to make sure they stay in position? Or the trick is to balance them such a way that they all stay together using their own weight? Sorry a newbie here..setting up a 2+ft curved custom tank..so still collecting as much information as possible before buying the LR, which I intend to do this weekend.. I'm sure this has been asked before -- any tips on how to differentiate the good LR from the bad ones? BrownSugar
  5. What is the best position for the tank wall being drilled? I mean can you do it with the tank wall vertical and drill as if you're drilling a hole in your house wall? Or do you have the place the tank flat on the ground (on a piece of wood) and drill downwards? What about pressure -- can apply pressure or let the drill's rotating force work its way through? I'm trying to setup a sump and feel that an IOS will take up too much space in the tank (mine is a 2' curved custom tank, inherited from a friend). Not to mention the extra protrusion inside an otherwise clean tank. So thinking of drilling a hole on the back of the tank, 2" from the top rim and connect it to the sump. Anyone tried this? Got any pics to show? BrownSugar
