  1. Its Bryopsis sp. Many consider this a nuisance algae. Still a good nutrient export nonetheless Remove or keep it, its up to you. Keep an eye on it before it grows into plague proportions though.
  2. ... with horses too too much wind in your hair Tanzy?
  3. Great Job keeping this thread alive guys BlueHeaven, good to see Davies again, and happy Here's my white girl, Sidney
  4. The French still make pretty good pastries, and lingerie ... good labour law too... Wasn't Renault THE car in F1 a few years ago?
  5. I'm happy with the Jazz; its scalability in carrying capacity does come in handy for someone who is moving into a new apartment. It can fit a 6 foot ladder easily, and some others. Manage to put in a 4x3x1.5ft tub as well. (Contractor in one trip,a fishmonger in another ) I manage an average 16km/L, depending on road conditions (basically stop-and-go)and load. Engine seems rather quiet and smooth, not lacking in power at all. Only drawback is that it does not seem to have an autolock function when you turn the ignition, or even when the car is already cruising. Not that we can't press that little button by the side though. Generally a good family/utility car which is easy on the pockets.
  6. Status: Item 1: 3ft tank (negotiable) Item 2: Reserved Item 3: 3ft 02 x 30w 6500K FL Lightset ($40) Item 4: Reserved Thanks

  8. 1) 3 x 1.5 x 1.5 ft glass (8mm) tank with fully plumbed sump of same dimensions on a wrought iron stand SGD$150 It has a fully functional DSB with a wide array of sand fauna. The glass walls are coated with live pink / purple coralline algae. I maintained them just in case the buyer will want, and has a way to transport them. Included is also an operational coralline coated powerhead which can easily pass off as a live rock. Use it or cannabalise the thick coralline walls, its use is only limited by your imaginations. 2) 3ft ATMAN 02 x 36w 10K Power Compact (PLC) lights SGD$50 (can use to retrofit T5s / MH)) 3) 3ft 02 x 30w 6500K FL Lightset SGD$40 (can use to retrofit T5s / MH) 4) 01 x ELBIRU Electronic ballast (supports up to 02 x 36-40w) SGD$10 (T5s/FL/PLC ) Will entertain any reasonable offers. Thanks for looking
  9. Caulerpa Webbiana is hardy, grows like weed, and have clingers which are a bitch to dislodge from whatever it has a hold on. Nonetheless, its supposed to be a fast grower. In any case, the amount of nutrient uptake (PO4, NO3 etc) from a macroalgae refugium can only be that much. If your water parameters checks out fine, I would advise to leave it as is.
  10. A safe and fast way to resolve ANY, and I mean ANY problem is a substantial water change. This quick remedy will buy you more time to read a little more, get some advice and start on buffering these parameter; biologically or chemically in careful measure. Remember, if in doubt, you 'G O O G L E'
  11. Mel, Perhaps you / someone else / something keeps fragging them? Otherwise, I can't fathom how else is that possible I can move your question to the SPS section for the nuts there to ponder over.
  12. Which macroalgae are you keeping? There are fast and slow growers. It is prudent not to dose anything that you cannot test readily and economically. Besides, these 'fertilisers' will also fuel nuisance algae such as hair algae. Suffice to say, "If its not broken, don't fix it" You have to admit slow growing macroalgae is better than the ones crashing.
  13. Our Resident CLOWNfish is back .... HowStuffWorks eh? What happened to the one explaining how a light sabre works? A little offtopic, but did the question really include the word "shit'?
  14. Bad idea, it'll cause pH to dip and a hosts of other issues. Perhaps giving us an idea of what kind of lights and the lighting regime you keep the macros under will help.
  15. Tiger Tail Sea Cucumbers have been reserved. Dory for anyone?
  16. Boxfish, You have really got to get your basics right before using additives which you do not fully understand. Here's a start. The answer to your question in the Topic Title is addressed in the fourth (4th) paragraph. If you think you're up to it, try Randy's article.
  17. With enough alcohol, you'll find your other fishes talking to you too But seriously, is anyone interested?
  18. Regal Blue Tang (Paracanthurus hepatus) - SGD$15 nett About 3 inch, thick and fat, packing a bad attitude. Feeds on everything including pellets Been with me for about 1.5 years and is ich-resistant. *Warning: It has been known to peck on open brain coral (Trachyphyllia sp.) Tiger Tail Cucumber (Holothuria impatiens) - SGD$15 nett Indeterminate size as it can stretch up to 9inches to feed. Feeds on sand fauna. PM me to deal, collection is at Bishan. Thanks for looking.
  19. Ctenogobiops tangaroai Interestingly, its also a shrimpgoby which will readily pair up with an alpheid shrimp. Since 'Cteno' means 'comb' in Greek, I have not quite figure out what is the function of a comb-goby You can name it whatever you like, 'spot'?

    Aquaz T5

I have used T5s for over 1.5 years and I find them excellent lighting choice for hobby tanks with moderate needs and/ or specific purpose. I do claim to be an authority on T5s, neither do I have a bias towards any brands but the technology looks promising, which I feel should be sufficient. I do believe in friendly competition, and better competitiveness. Some sponsors are, and will remain good friends, so they will understand its out of professional habit that I remain independent and critical in my difficult role. - your ocassional friendly Mod
  21. Ok Vinoth, noted. What about the other guys? Same time?
  22. Excellent... the racemosa are already sitting in a pail of aged water. I only have 2 short windows this weekend. These are the slots: 1) Saturday morning 9-11am 2) Sunday evening 7-9pm Venue: Sembawang Shopping Centre, Main Entrance. * These are free of charge, so please accomodate my tight schedule. ** Those who missed out this time, can still express your interest here.
  23. This long overdue harvest should yield about 5 generous portions. List your name: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Will throw in some Ulva if you also think there is too much cr@p in the Forum
  24. Haber process was conceptualised nearly a century ago for the purpose of making ammonia on a large scale, possibly to make up demand for fertilizer. It cannot be applied even if your tank can reach 450 degrees celsius On topic again, did anyone mention the fundamental definition of a 'refugium' being simply a place of refuge for smaller organisms to sustain its population without being preyed upon?
