Hi, i am looking for someone whom can do a 1 time test on my ammonia and no2. This is because i am in the midst of cycling which started since last monday. However, the reading i am getting for my ammonia and no2 has been weird. from the start till now salifert ammonia test kit shows: 0 ammonia in between every 3 days or so i tested for no2 using salifert too and it shows: 0 i tested for no3 twice using salifert: 0 Api test kit showed a spike in ammonia till last fri and it has been dropping to 0.5 and 0 yesterday and today respectively. but as per above no3 and no2 test today showed 0.... things i have used to kickstart my cycling: 3-4 prawns (was 8 for first day haaha) 1/2 bottle of actipod from reef nutrition (expired) pellets (ard 10) physically i can still see the prawn 1 of which has this goey coating around it. both left abit of the tail only. in terms of dosing: Bacteria i got from ml x 7 pack as of today (1 pack was mixed into sand) poly lab genesis (daily) poly lab fuel (just dosed for week 2) media in sump: live sand from old tank that survive 2 crash 1 x life rock from old tank 2 tray of crushed coral from old tank polylab bio spheres from old tank 1 x newly bought bacteria king would love to transfer over the old tank stuff (zoas and some lps to new tank) asap as office is cramp with 2 tanks by end of the week too but the above reading makes me wonder if my cycling has even started or has it end... if someone can help me test my water, if in west near clementi, i can go over anytime 10-5 if in north east such as hougang, amk, sengkang anytime after 10pm.

can try bsi gel from madpetz. been using them as prescribe by dr ang =p used it for my 2 feet nano before also no problem.

u reminded me of my blue squamosa that died in just 2 week due to short circuit in office =( ya emphasized to tank maker no metal or pipe on top of tank except hanging kit for lights hehe wanted a clear view from the top which is why the return pipe is drilled through the overflow box. got to tell boss above =) dunno lei 1.3 ft wor....lol =p

just one question on my cycling too. will there be an issue if i am to stop my return pump for a day or 2 and let the display tank cycle on its own? getting weird result for my tank and i think it might be due to the sump where i placed a stuff from my old tank such as poly lab biosphere (Definately going to affect my no3 reading) live sand and crush coral and 2 live rock (all very mature i think...survive 2 crash in my nano tank hehe). more on the weird result: ammonia no spike according to salifert and sera test kit, api test strip shows a spike of up to 3 and drop slowly over fri and sat to 1 n now close to 0. problem is no2 did not increase at all (test done using salifert test kit) needless to say no3 level is close to 0 as well (probably due to biosphere). Another question i have is beside affecting no3 does biosphere affect ammonia n no 2?

my first addition to tank has already been bought thou it is kept with henry of ML while i wait out my cycle....just feel in love with his current batch of true percs. there was a pair that looked very nice in term of colours and this pair whose design i fell in love with. the pair with nice colours got sold fast thou saw on wed i think and sold that evening....thurs made the booking for this pair (something about me and percs always have them in every tank and somehow they are always the first thing i get...thou not really recommanded)... sorry for the blury pic...there was a couple in front of me so i cant snap well... also took a peek in the rubbish bin that has been storing my current stuff...zoas has been growing well in the last few weeks its been in there from this (around 4) to this (around 8) the rest did grow too but really hard to take pic.....cant wait to transfer....

nope just following bro marcovan suggestion...just like he said my filter socks were darn brown when i took them out... so use canister for filtering out the dirty stuff from the sand.... anyway this tank has been a weird cycling process for me previous 3 tank also not so kang kor.... today day 5 salifert test : 0 ammonia (from day 1 to 5) api: 3 in morning noon is 1 (measured nitrite with salifert: 0) 1 more dunno what brand kit i lent from fresh water friend also showed 0 dunno is it because of my old tank sand n rocks + bio sphere (but this only affect nitrate right)....

hehe sure thing. heading down to c328 tml before going to office. btw my concern is if i am to use a mechanical filter now would i be losing out on the beneficial bacteria that in the canister later? and if so and i dont use a mechanical filter can i just wait out the foam to settle down or use skimmer to filter all this out?

Haha already bought a true perc pair. Not the best fish to start with but I love their design(found it unique). Was attracted by 2 pair but 1 of ten got sold ytd so today booked the last pair I liked with Henry but left them with him till cycle finish.

ya man worried coz i just dose bacteria and henry did specifically said i have to off my skimmer when i dose it. scared this will prolong cycling. What is dry skim ar? sry abit nooby will add my spare wave maker for mixing salt to the sump. i do intend to get the full series. probably heading down to get it tomorrow in this case yup already feed back to tank maker initially because of the sound but i told him no hurries that time coz there no bubble issues. waiting for my lights to arrive than he do the changes for me.

hmm still foaming...looks like not sock problem... prolly what bro resser says: "It's dissolved organics. It's normal. That's how skimmers work. As long as there is turbulence that creates air bubbles in saltwater with a lot of dissolved organics, the bubble will foam and the head stays quite a while." if so that means my pipe got a lot of air going in??? since the pipe leads down to the water directly.

nope not really. just normal seawater smell.
