Mandarin dragonet feeding question
nicreef replied to nicreef's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
yup i am reading on that now. my tigger pods are in this small glass tank i kope from my freshwater friend. Got the pods from irawna and physto feast (smelly food man) from aqua (anyone want to share as i got it at a discount since it is expiring on the 28th of this month). Read that temperature wise this things are very hardy. intend to do water change between main tank every other day. Today dunno why my mandarin like no mood lol during feeding time never chase the frozen food. after that tried to intro abit the tigger pods but he still like no mood just stayed on his fav spot. -

Dint really planned to keep Zoa at the start but den i started reading about it in this forum. Saw some bros here using egg crate etc to create space to keep zoa when i realized i got a live rock that has lots of holes (see attached). Not too sure how to go about seeing if the zoa is good or how to get them attached to the hole in the rock. use epoxy or i saw some using plug (where to get them?) thx for the advice in advance

ok thx agaiun going down this weekend if possible. -
Hi, to increase the water capacity in my tank and fit my small office space, i have been using a rubbish bin as my sump. However, this does not allow me to build a baffle. as such my display tank has lots of small bubbles floating around (look like dust floating around the top of the tank). using the attached container so that the larger bubble does not appear but still having loads of the small dust like air bubbles. also attached is the picture of my sump to see if anyone has any idea on what to do. I am also using a sock at the intake point to lower the bubble.

Mandarin dragonet feeding question

also according to their calculator, i should be feeding 6.85 to 13.69 drop. currently i am only doing 1 drop. should i follow their instructions? do i off my pump when i feed so that the water to overflow box stops and the arcti-pods remain in the display tank? http://reefnutrition.com/feed_calculator.html -
Hi, i have been reading up on the mandarin dragonet and was wondering if anyone has been successful with using arctipods from reef nutrition to feed them? when i got it from the lfs i was told (and the label on the food) indicates mandarin loved them but yet when i read online, it says that they dont take any kind of frozen food. I usually try to feed 1 drop per day by using a syring and balloon stick and releasing the arctipods near the rock he always hide in. the second question i have is if my lighting is too strong. i am using 2 14w blue t5 light from dymax currently. reason why i felt so is because the mandarin always hide within the rocks (i have lot of holes for him to hide in) and comes out only when the lights are off. Ps: my tank is a small 2 feet wide, 1 feet deep.

Hi thanks. more or less tank has settled and cycling has ended. Offed the skimmer yesterday when i left the office as i did a WC and dosed bacteria.Waiting for it to skim properly again after changing it from hang on type to within sump. Current life stock in tank: 1 x 2 head hammer (had to frag 1 head the next day after i got it) 1 x plate coral 1 x mandarin 6 snails 1 x mushroom (not sure what it is called - help id? hehe) the green container in the top left helps me contain the bubble issue i had. just have to let the opening rest slightly above the water level.
