Mandarin dragonet feeding question
nicreef replied to nicreef's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Mandarin picture from 2 days back. is he too skinny? seems better to me now. at least i see him moving about pecking on rocks. tank seems to have more copepods. when i tried to insert a frag plug into the hole and remove i see copepods coming out. same case as with my "refugium". after turning it off during feeding, upon turning on i see lots of copepods flowing down. I have also added henry gourmet to the my feeding routing. skimmer been busy since i feed lots...hehe articpods, zooplankton, pellet, phytofeast, oyster feast, phytocare. -
Yup btm frag is fibre optic top is radioactive

Ok probably need to move the bottom one than flow there is lower n lighting too. Chiller was set to 25 but read that most bro here set at 26 as such I just changed it to 26 ytd. Hovers between 26-26.7

had some problem editing above post below are the information: picture 3: naokae wrasse (the most i spent on a fish so far - approx 5 days in tank) picture 4: sea squirt (the one thing that i have least info on. any information would be appreciated - been dosing phyto feast and phycopure as well as brightwell zooplanktons-M in tank as i read that they are heavy phytoplankton eaters).

hmm what should i do wait and see first? no3 really lost on how to lower liao...using bio pellet, seachem denitrate and cheetos...yesterday just did water change 25% reading before and after is the same

Hi all, 2nd day of trying out SPS as such need guidance 1. my current tank reading is: 8.7dkh 480 cal 1430 mag nitrate 5 no2 0 po4 0 ammonia <0.25 ph: 8.1 was reading on the other thread Alkalinity should be high, around 12 dKH or about 4.5 meq/L as such should i increase my dkh? and to do so, i have 2 solution which would be better? 1. redsea reef foundation B or 2. redsea coralline Gro? b. is my placement of LPS ok? the bottom frag was originally placed on top but when i came in today morning both fell down from their placement probably due to snail knocking into them. as such i glued 1 to the rock and shifted the other to bottom of the tank been reading about bleaching and turning brown but worried newbie me wouldnt be able to spot it fast. any advice? below is the pic of the sps i got

long and wide, but shallow?

just came back from ML. actually i was inspired by his display tank. checked with him, his is 1 feet but he told me i can go for 15 inch 1.25 feet. after going through with him i am thinking about going for a 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 1.25 tank. in the midst of planning on how to organise my office room so that i can have a 3 side view of the tank (meaning tank has to be in centre of room). -
Hi all need help iding 1. this thing i saw in my cheetos that i just bought. 2. also at the same time the mush room and lastly 3. this little fish which i totally forgot i bought since he is always hiding. ( 2nd time i saw him since i got my tank - pardon the poor image quality for this fish as he is always hiding behind the rocks).

lol bro...somehow ur thread always interest me as it is what i intend to do too! i was deciding if i should get a 2nd hand 3.5x2x2 tank right now but probably wont as i would prefer a shallow tank with 3 side view. my specs i am intending to get is 4 x 2 x 1 or 1.5 (226 - 340 litre) or 3 x 2 x 1 or 1.5 (179- 255 litre). but the difference is i am probably going to get a deeper sump tank than most especially if i am to settle on the 2 footer. sump would be same size as display in term of height and width but 1 feet in depth giving me a 340 or 255 litre sump. ( probably going for metal frame rather than cabinet). so max litre is 680 litre (which is just nice for me since i am using a 700l skimmer) the reason why i like deep sump is because i always liked to have a higher water capacity than lower since the crash of my IQ 5 but realize that most sumps are not built as such. wonder if any seniors here can advice why? -
lol just installed it today after giving it a good washing with warm water. so far so good Should be ok i guess. so far havent read anything or heard anything bad about overkilling 7 times hehe. henry was suggesting to me earlier that after the skimmer has run in, i can consider having it on timer. for example: 1 hr after feeding run for 8 hours.

Yup been googling a lot all the readin says the same thing. Lr, Cheetos, sponge add food (brown algae) control feeding, leave at room temp n wait for close to a month... Btw bro u still got anymore Copepods for harvest
-
Ok got the bm curve 7... Overkill 7 times hehe gf saw the slimmer n almost killed me :x
-
thanks so overkilling is ok..if so i saw this... BM curve 7 for 700-900l overkill by 7 times thou....

Hi, Been thinking of getting a better skimmer. Currently using a Dymaz LS 10. At most get kopi water nia. 2 question: 1. If I am to overkill ie: get a skimmer for 200L would it be good or bad for the tank or just waste of money? 2. any reccomandation: my tank is 40 litre n sump ard 50-60 litre. I prefer n insump skimmer n since my sump is a trash bin ie vertical, water level can be high. Budget best is up to $300 but willin to go to $500 for a really good one time investment. Thx in advance

ok finished the moving. been 1 1/2 hrs since i am done but torch still not opening. the water flow at the top is higher so that maybe a reason. monitering him for now. if it works well, i would either shift him slightly forward so i can place other corals behind or have that area full of torch...would torch next to torch be ok firsT?
-
ok thx bro just did furthur reading. seems like torch is a 50 - 50. sometimes they do sting the others sometimes they dont.. not going to take the risk. rearranging it so that the torch is on top while the rest are below would that be good enough? or should i totally isolate it? posting pics once it is done.

hi i am also trying to cultivate some tigger pods when i finally chance upon this thread hehe first attempt failed after a week. now on 2nd attempt. read that we should not use the tank water but freshly mixed salt water only on www.tigger-pods.com (think this is why i failed the first time round). just wondering if any bros know what are this pink stuff at the bottom of the mini tank i am cultivating them in? got them the first time i cultivate them too. also does your phystofeast stink???? (not sure if the bottle i bought is spoiled or it just stinks in the first place? Ps: getting the cheetos tml. currently have a lr inside as advice by henry.
