wah very patient reefer haha...i gave myself 1 month for my next tank and wonder if i can tahan waiting so long.... still quite new to this but i think leaving it to cycle abit longer no wrong...once settle down liao maybe can go buy copepods and let them grow in tank for awhile before adding life stock...at least thats what i am thinking of doing...

Hi been noticing loads of red and green hair algea in my tank (not too sure if that is what they are called) after my tank crash some weeks back. First test showed 0.1 ppm phosphate so i lowered it using Goodbye PO4 from henry. But for the last 2 days like got more and more algae. Today my measurement is: no3: 2 ppm po4: 0 no2: 0 For the green hair algae i am thinking of keeping it actually and throw into my new tank sump since it is all gathered on a rock.. what do you guys think??

hmm actually i got consider too...but i already have 1 AI and i love the look it gives + i want the light to ramp up and down in same sequence and colouring...if use different light set dont think it is possible. Yup rock scape is already close to top....trying to figure out what i can grow on top....the guy i bought this rock from was suggesting to try making a mangrove at the top but i no experience in this lol read up the mangrove section only know need slow water flow... actually i cut down from 5 ft to this size partly becoz i dont want to spend another 700 on another set....coz AI website states 2 x 2 coverage per set. so area less the overflow would be 4ft. intendin to keep mixed: lps and softie for 1st 6 month or followed by sps (should also be ok. another AI user managed to keep sps on his tank (which i recall is not a shallow tank). in fact for SPS on AI, need to dim the light using coral acclimation mode) + 1 or 2 clams (which should be ok coz my blue squamosa was doing ok on my current AI till the electric failure over the weekend caused a tank crash).

Life rocks: beside those in my current tank, life rocks which i just got for this tank is: 20 inches long 52 inche - 26 inches(overflow + this life rock) = 26 inches left to cover (ie: liferock for half the tank completed). just saw this at irwana today: dam tempted to get.....got to go down with measuring tape tml to measure:

Just came back from vincent office and feeling a little jittery....somehow nervous about starting this new tank. Would really want to get this right as this is and will probably be final tank in office. Specs as follows: Display tank: 4.35 ft (52 inches) x 2 ft (24") x 1.2 ft (14") (10 inch 3 side crystal) : 245 Litres Sump: 3.2 ft(38") x 1.6 ft(19") x 1.25ft (15") : 112 litres Total capacity: 357 litres Lighting: 2 x AI Vega colour Stand: 75cm Skimmer BM curve 7 Chiller: Hailea HS 28A (changing to teco: cant rmb what model from vincent using this as back up after that since it's specs state up to 400litre). Additional FR: Biopellet and PO4 Return pump: Waveline (again vincent recommandation..leaving this to him..suppose to be a new model coming in next mth). sump plan as of now: rough feel of how tank should be like (this is vincent 6ft display tank mine. main difference is mine is smaller. beside that the stand and material are about the same).

bottom line for new reefer ish plan nice nice...dun like me spend money on lousy skimmer den got to upgrade or buy lousy lights den realize cannot keep lps and softies etc...

not big boss....is coz of below (and bro privacy lei later Wifey or Gf see how... ;p ) new reefer mah....started with 2 ft tank on table...realize need sump spend money buy ovevrflow etc..den chiller etc...finally expecting to spend less liao but gave in to darker side and going to cheong new tank...

anyone using the following?? deciding on what to use for my sump sand bed...prolly going something deep, around 4-5 inches. was wondering if this product would do coz i recall deep sand bed should use very very fine sand. or any other recommandation on what sand to get?

btw imho sand bed might as well make it 4 - 6 inch coz 3 inches like not deep sand bed yet not shallow also. currently at work so cant find the thread but recall there was a nice post on the difference between the 2 in the forum recently.

mmz skimmer probably running in...or else water level too high for the skimmer...check to see the recommanded water level for your skimmer...what i did for my bm curve 7 is to wash it with warm water and let it dry before use. break in period approx a day..without doing so from what i read break in period is 5-6 days. nice how big is ur tank bro? if i am right, 300 liter is $30 so $50 for the maintenance? btw how big is ur tank? coz my next tank is only 400 - 500 litres (inital order no problem but for water change..... if order 300 litre, i prolly only going to change 20% or approx 100L wonder where i am going to store the remainder 200 litre...

yA wonder if anyone tried using a plumber before...was wondering what to do if my pipe go kaput when vincent is overseas hehe if so any good one to recommand so far been googling and found http://www.24hrsingaporeplumber.com seems to be the only 1 with license number and office number to call the rest like http://www.licensedsingaporeplumber.com/ never even put license number and some more hp number nia....(in fact most i find on first page also like that). After my office power trip i realize knowing someone whom does such plumbing and electrical stuff helps. that time electricity trip on sunday...google like hell also cannot find electrician..heng my friend pro at this. came over and help me solve the problem (basically just flick 1 switch...dont bother calling for electrician if trip...just find your power box and on the trip switch can liao....mine had difficulty coz is office hard to find the box). I guess unless u r a hands on person else this 2 contacts should be helpful for us reefer. anyone else got such emergency contact at affordable price to share?
