Was using a fr to do my DI water but some leaked into tank. Any idea if it would be a problem with the raisin in tank? About 1 handful I estimate

going to the hardware store near ML to source for the profile 40x40 later. secured by this: Yup joining the shallow reef club...maybe moderator should add in a shallow reef thread like pic hehe going to be slow on this tank...becoz of budget

thx. ok preparing to do so. got 2 tubes of epoxy 6 tube bsi gel n 1 more dunno what glue from irwana on standby. mmz what is end cap? the edges seems ok so far think vincent might have done something to the but if the end cap can cover the ugly hole why not also actually wanted to change to wood for feng shui reason but than the stand was already ordered..so no choice stick to aluminium. thx. next step: 1. gonna epoxy and glue all together. 2. remove them in 1 whole piece hopefully wont destroy the scape and add tap water. 3. Running rasin via a fr to get them to 0 tds than add in DD salt mix 4. add in live sand and add back rocks. 5. for cycling would it be ok if i use my expired reef nutrient actic pods? 6. after cycling end, WC 50% than add my current bio sphere and bio pellet to new tank (or should i add them in earlier?)

hmm...rocks mostly dead but got a couple that i just took out from old tank haven fully sun dry them yet. 1 more question: can i use my expired reef nutrition food to kick start my cycling?
-
Finally got my tank today. spent the evening back in office to do rockscape. Hope for more feed back before i start to epoxy and glue them soon. Basically i broke them up into 3 island: island 1: island 2 island 2 and 3 (realize no pic of island 3 only) Top view: Need to think of a way to hide the ugly pipes would epoxy work? also need to shorten the long protruding rock...goes above water line liao...or maybe just let it remain...something different...? if remove use what tool to cut ar? Sump:
-
haha those are at irwana i havent buy yet prolly not buying liao as i realize i have enough rocks as of now.
-
i did use it on my now old tank. dint seem to have any issue even when i removed my skimmer to new tank (but than again this was after my tank crash and no more lifestock beside LPS and Zoas)
-
dont be alarm by the title ;p What i wanted to ask is just to double confirm that normal water should not be added in a tank with rocks as the rock would absorb the no2 etc right? my new tank just arrived today and i did the scaping (without sand) in the tank....wanted to add water than use a FR and raisin to DI the water after that when i recalled reading about not soaking rock into tap water. if that's so than i have to remove my rock after the expoy dry than add water liao just a bit lei chey and scared i cant back the same rockscape.

Advice needed on Shifting to new tank
nicreef replied to nicreef's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Sorry some question on my mind now Question 1: Since my tank no life stock liao only left the zoas LPS can my 2x1x1 tank last for a month without the sump?? Total ard 10 zoas 4 LPS and 1 anemone. Question 2: New tank coming in today. Can i 1. Add DI water to fill tank, add salt and rely on wavemaker to mix the salt. At the same time add in rocks (dead one all sun dried or out of water for at least 2 days) and do my rockscape. 2. after 2-3 days, add live sand (new) and transfer crushed coral from current tank in, start skimmer and throw some of my expired fish food from reef nutrition in to start cycling. Question 3: Biopellet and Rowaphos in Reactor - When should i introduce them to the new system? currently Rowaphos just nice old 1 used finish i just got a new bottle. reactor also wash clean clean liao. Biopellet thou i have not stopped yet (from what i understand when the movement of the pellet stop the bacteria start to die off??) as such i want to make the transfer for this fast so that once add in the biopellet are in work liao. Same thing applies for the polylab biosphere when should i transfer it over? after cycling end when NO3 is at its peak (than no need water change) or after the first water change bring NO3 down than add in or add in from the start of cycling? -

Hmm sounds good if any one in west side near pandan loop area can help think i ask vincent later when he deliver my tank can put his place awhile not lol. current: 2x1X1 new tank4X2X1 -
help on estimated cost of a new 5 ft marine tank
nicreef replied to dirtnitro's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
ehh imho cheap sometimes comes with cost at a later stage -
thanks i removing most of my LR to sun dry. only left 4 within that has my zoas and anemone stuck onto that i am not drying. Cant wait for tank to arrive...24 hours more muahaha
-
btw which would be better? remove all rock sun dry them make sure no pest or transfer current rock directly to new tank? just saw another creepy on my LR. this one looks like a centipede...
-
going to do that for the next tank coming friday
-
oo ok was worried coz i read that some isopods can be a pest too. definately intending to in my tank going to wait at least a month or 2 to let the pod population grow before adding anything fish.
-
hmm cant find them on the rock today...they are really tiny and hard to find... took 20 pics those 3 are the best liao haha...anyway think i will just remove all my rock and dry before adding to new tank.
-
just wondering if it is ok to use string or cable tie to set the rock together before epoxying and glue? and most importantly, can i leave the string or cable tie on. just in case i forget to remove a few will it harm my tank?
-
Hi, my tank is due to arrive next week. just wondering what is the best way for me to shift my current items to new tank? current items i need to move: 1 torch 2 hammer 10+ zoas 1 anemone skimmer posphate reactor biopellet reactor crushed corals the new yeast product by polylab for nitrate control (not sure what name but rmb just saw a competition to guess what it is recently). have been thinking that i should not shift till new tank finish cycling since different location but yet office small so feeling abit cram wan to clear space .....
-
about to shift to new tank and i spotted this crawling on my LR. Beneficial or pest? and what is it?! still trying to decide if i should take our my current LR to sun dry first or just transfer....
-

Losing battle with algea since tank crash
nicreef replied to nicreef's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
thx i got the ultralife red slime remover and dosed it ytd. tanks seems better now with much lesser red slime. corals dont seem too happy but guess it is expected as i read about this at reefcentral too. Going to see how it goes over the next couple of days.
