  1. Hey Jeff, just realized you started a tank thread, Congrats man love your tank cant wait for more pictures
  2. Bro welcome to the reefers world I can understand how tempting and exciting this is for you now I would strongly suggest, do some reading before deciding the next step Before all that, i hope you have asked yourself the question if you can setup, stock and maintain a marine tank, this includes both financially, physically and mentally Please make sure you read reefing 101 Practice alot of patience, the most important thing in the hobby is urself and your interest, so don go around throwing hard earned money without building some knowledge There are alot of good used equipments, including Test kits and refractormeter you can buy from the Sell off/Pasar malam section of this forum i am not sure if i have eyesight issues, but i see some scratch or crack in your tank, please make sure its not deep or you can cause the tank to crash considering the fact Salt water is densed Dont get pulled back with all the advice you get, trust me you will be more excited once you embark in the learning process, in the world of reefing everyday you can learn something new. Once you achieve it with all the patience and hard work, you will stand proud by it
  3. Bro, did you decommission your iq5?
  4. Yes yes, i meant the Coral, sorry for the confusion wont dare keep the brown octopus Bro iskay, thanks for the reply, does this mean it has no logical sense to blame the Anemone and MH? The only thing i didnt check was copper, but i use a RO-DI unit, not from Tap and i didnt perform any medication
  5. I have a 3 x1.8 x1.5 feet tank stabilized for about close to a year now My stock 1 BT 2 YT philipines 5 Damsels 1 Cardinal 1 Clown 1 Hermit 3 turbo REcently added 1 Brown Octopus, 1 green Buble tip and a Gornio and a crocea clam I have also upgraded to MH ( 2x150W) and 2 t8 bulb(blue) Now, everything seemed to be fine with the tank, until my YT, which was healthy and feeding( very active) died, close to my Bubble tip anemone I have also noticed slow movement from the Turbo snail, they dropped off once and 2 had died, 1 still alive Water parameters are all good including Phosphates, nitrates, nitrite, KH, calcium etc water change bi weekly PH: 8.5 salinity 1.023 Few questions i need help with 1. Could it be that my YT got stung by the anemone? 2. What could have been the problem with the death of turbo snails? could it be anything related to the MH?Been doing alright in my tank for many months The only new occupants were the bulb anemone, brown octopus, crocea clam and the MH setup anyway the Anemone is still not very happy with the lights, i am just turning it on for few hours a day to get the corals to get used to the light the octo and Clam seems to be very happy
  6. Clam RIP . During one of my trip to malaysia, she didnt make it when i came back, still dont know what was the cause of death. once my 3 footer is stable will get a clam
  7. Hey Bro , i think it shouldnt hurt since its only on the shell Yeah long time since we chat, i have been really busy with work and neglecting the hobby haha, i need to find some reefing buddies to keep me going I decom my IQ5 and upgraded to a 3 footer, but things been going slow for now How is things with you? how is your tank now
  8. Hey Jeff I had this problem with my clam too, i couldnt just rest it, this was due to their nature of snapping shut when threaten, this makes it to drop on either side. The advice i got was to glue the side of the clam to a rock, just one side so that it still can open and shut as it likes. i have seen many clams being just places on sandbed, lets wait for other bros advice
  9. Good thing, you asked bro, topping up with salt water would have been a mega disaster, my advice use distilled water, tap water has its disadvantage too
  10. Bro, can PM me the cost of the tank
  11. wah look like the bicolor clam from Samoa
  12. HI, Not an expert but you still have to do water change, due to these reasons 1. Its only Water that evaporates 2. Good and Bad elements do not evaporate with water 3. Waste also does not evaporate with Water 4. By water change you replenish the good trace elements with a good salt mix and remove any bad elements in the water So it is advise able to do a periodic water change to keep the system healthy, IMHO
  13. When my Blue tang had ich, twice i just reduced my salinity progressively and gave fortified food, worked for me so far
