My purple Tang is blind......
Cherlolo replied to Speedwagon's topic in Disease treatment/parasite/pest control
For me, I'll let the fish swim in the medicated water until it recovers. Might take weeks, so water change is necessary. Instead of daily, I do partial water change twice a week cos my QT has its own filter system. Upon seeing recovery, I will replace the water 100% with my display tank and let it swim in it for another week before I put it back into the main tank. All these is done in my QT, not in my main tank. As for my QT filters, I just change the wool. It's never advisable to treat ur main tank. Inhabitants are subjected to deaths. Try to QT sick fishes. I trap mine. -
Since its a Fish only tank, why not use copper or other commercial meds? Stress level is lesser for both fishes and keeper. Unless its for the experience, but If the objective is to control/rid ich, hypo is too long and too much labor. Days vs weeks. My 2 cents.

Aiptasia anemones with hot water

My fren just shot the concentrated juice at the mouth and it melts straight away. Problem solved... -
Fresh water dip, then Meth Blue worked for me. No worries for copper levels too.

MARINE ICH ATTACK! HELP!
Cherlolo replied to staromsa's topic in Disease treatment/parasite/pest control
I have the same ich outbreak problem, 4ft x 2ft x 2.5ft semi reef tank, impossible to catch the fishes or treat with copper. Tried Octozin and Anti-ich (heard from LFS that anti-ich will kill LR if doseage is too high), both didn't work. Lost 2 dottybacks, emperor, Majastic and Scribbled angel (Pain). What seems to work is medicated food, and pellets soaked in garlic and aquarium vitamins, feed daily, it will help built up immune system which I think is the best defence against Ich. I added in some stress guard too. I also tried trapping, and it works too. managed to trap yellow tang. now all is well again. -

Could be internal Bacteria, Myxazin or others that treat internal bacteria might help. Like what AGK mentioned, don't overdose cos it will kill ur fish, Maybe can add in some Stress Guard, it help my fishes when I QT them. -
Aiptasia anemones with hot water

My buddy tried Sunkist lemon on his aiptasia, works too, Coralline not harmed, and the Vit C from the juice is somehow acted as suppliments -
Paraguard is mainly to control ich. For your case, it's bacteria. My angel is having this problem now. Water condition is mainly the cause. Do regular water change (1 bucket a day) might help. If you can QT it, make sure you can provide very good water condition or else it will worsen. That's what happen to mine, from popeye to couldy eye in one day. No choice but to put it back to main tank, and now it has ich too...have to be patient with this...

Salt brand the same? Don't think it's a major issue other than the cost involved. Maybe change the brand to something that uses less? That what I did.

O ya, make sure your water parameters are stable. Your fish might be stress thus getting ich and refusing to eat. -

Emperor Angels have known to be picky eaters. Mine only eat pellets and nothing else. It made it very difficult to treat it when its sick. I can't catch it either. Many will advise you to QT it. But we all know its easier to say than done. Literally impossible to catch in a tank with many hiding places which is the recommended setup for angelfishes. Till now, my emperor has quite a resistant to ich, will get it once in a while but, recovers quickly. The problem I have now is one gill breathing. Still donno how to treat it yet. Anyway, for ich I have success using Octozin. My soft corals and LPS, anemones, snails, sand stars and fishes are all well, zero deaths. I dose directly into the display tank, treatment for 3 days, let it run for 3 weeks. The only thing I didn't do it the salinity requirements of the treatment which is almost a Hypo. 1.017. For feeding, you might want to try garlic or entice from seachem. Soak your pellets or food and feed a bit to see if it eats. Gotta be patient with it, but be prepared for the worst thou. I have friend's emperor angel starved itself to death, just refuse to eat. -
I have them too, they look like snails to me cos it looks like a swirl after a close up look at them. I use to scrap them of with a metal scraper. Recently they seem to be lesser, wonder if my fishes ate them...

Sudden death of fish
Cherlolo replied to fishy_dude's topic in Disease treatment/parasite/pest control
I was told by LFS that methylene blue can help with cyanide poisoning. Got this from another webby, "The properties of the drug as an oxygen transporter (it converts methemoglobin to the normal oxygen carrying component of fish blood, hemoglobin) allow it to be used in the treatment of known cyanide and nitrite poisoning of aquarium fishes. It has been suggested that newly arrived marine fish placed in Methylene Blue can have their survival rate increased as Methylene Blue aids in the reversal of nitrite and/or cyanide poisoning." http://www.novalek.com/kordon/methylene_blue/index.htm -

Hi, reactor enough for 4ft tank?
-
If this can reduce micro-bubbles, I wonder if it can reduce particles? My display tank is "infested" with particles floating around, using a 200 micron filter bag, doesn't seem to be working.
