1) Do not underestimate the strength(par) of your led light set, do not place led light set too low as it can burn your corals. Place high for spread and always go slow with the percentage. 2) do not add too many livestock at one go. Most of the time we human like to " play with fire" i add 2 fish today no problem, tomorrow add another 2 and so on for a week or 2. when the problem comes they all go at one go. 3) impatient in cycling process and introduce livestock too early in the process when water parameter is still unstable 4)In Balance In Parameters Is A Big No No..Flux In Kh,SG Will cause harm to SPS And Lps so keep these two stable and the others too 5) adding new fish and corals without doing research of it's behaviour and requirements. 6) cooking live rocks by putting them in the sun. This not only add extra nutrient to the rocks due to die offs inside the rock and also result in longer start up period. "Cooking" is not kill the rocks. Cooking is soaking rocks in hyper salinity or slightly higher than usual temperature to remove unwanted pests therefore keeping the entire integrity of the live rock intact 7) Not using the correct TDS water and inappropriate salt mix for more sensitive livestocks 8) Not inspecting / quarantining livestock before adding to main tank, pest introduction is a disaster that will take over the tank. 9) Don't dose any chemical that you seldom or do not measure. A lesson I am currently combating now (high calcium & magesnium) 10) Weekly water parameters check or monthly to ensure optimum water quality

Is keeping a shark legal in singapore ?
reeflex replied to Welly's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Baby bamboo shark is easy to keep but the food sizes must cut according to the mouth for bamboo to eat. Loves cut pieces of squid, prawn and kuning. Can grow into adults in one year. Becareful bamboo shark like to hide and tumble coral if keep in coral tanks. -
No algae on tank.. Good or bad??
reeflex replied to chriskessha's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Be patient and monitor water quality. Biopellet can be of help for the anemone to grow and skimmer is good for removing dissolve organics waste. -
how many pair of clown can be keep?
reeflex replied to sunnymau's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Most of the clown species when they in pair they will fight for dominant for the anemone. If pair is aggresive remove the dominant clown and you may have some peace until the clown grow bigger. If got more food they may not fight with each other. If bigger tank the issues is less they can have their own corner. -
Good info sharing.I wash the sand and soak overnight. It help to keep water clean.

Usually I used fine net or plantonk net and weekly scoopup the shit detritus. It reduce the water change load, For me water is money. Overflow must put filterwool and must change whenever dirty or hand wash for recycle.

Be careful of snail , crabs, and fishes. They alway went in through clam bottom and slowly chew the muscle. Even fishes will nip at the exposed bottom if the clams overturn or fall on its side. Flat worm will attack the clams. The big one.

Does your clown fish attack sexy shrimp?
reeflex replied to ARMOURSHRIMP's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Do fish attack molting shrimp? Yes shrimps is most vulnerable and weakest when molting and easy food for fishes. -
Thank tofubox and blackcell , will start looking around for frag tank.
-
It will release toxin when stress out or disturb. All the fish in the tank will die. It only eat live food. Closed system not recommended. Even semi open system when toxin is release all the fish will die of toxin. Total wipeout.
