blue or red legged hermit and astrea snail. together with semchem phosguard and rowaphos + at least weekly husbandry = diatom free seems like red legged hermit is better according to review, at least more peaceful... I have the blue legged hermit... good cleaner but a bit rough on my nassauius ... i always use my extra long chopstick to 华山论贱 with that bar-girl!

it kinda hide its bare body in between 2 rocks nicely & spare me the "unsightly" view and is also the position i wanted mud tube already started to form so will leave it the lfs lady not on purpose... anyway i end up with a better deal
-
likely the key to its survival is to have sufficient duration of light i leave my remaining few strand of chaeto in a container and placed near the window no water movement, just sunlight and occasional addition of tank "used" water somehow they survive and probably grow a little though a little pale but at least did not turn colorless and rot

bought this worm 3 days ago and yesterday it adjusted itself to stick to the liverock and I thought it happy liao sekali just now came back it is out of the tube I guess it give it up to another tubeworm that is sharing the same tube cos when the lfs lady try to split the tube, she kinda push the other one into the same tube as the one i wanted now it sticks next to the old tube on the liverock with its crown still attached. I have another tubeworm that is with me for weeks so unlikely is water or feeding issues. please advice what should I do? try to put it back into old tube? if it is gona make a new tube how long would that take?

just curious how come sump is more troublesome than canister? i started off with canister ... "mislead" by a colleague who keeps fresh water fish still remember is ehiem model 2222 I dislike opening the canister for maintenance .. worst, that model needs priming with a sump I can just grab and go ... most importantly got visibility and bigger area to work with

Typically how long to leave the lights ON? For my setup as I afraid of alage or diatom boomz , I try to limit the duration to about 4-5 hrs, 4-9pm. So far manage to have phospate, silicate, alage & diatoms under control ... I thought of increasing the duration gradually I believe LFS display tank all turn ON their lights for very on hours Is there any guide on recommended duration? Perhaps follow the Sun is the max.? I placed my tank in a room. From sun rise till afternoon 4pm the room is dim as the window is not open fully in case heavy rain and nobody around. So the tank also dim. Is it better to ON partial at least from noon onwards? Any best practice? Can share your approach and experience?

the test kit box will tell you good for how many test new tank, problem tank more often, few time a week? no fix rule ba. if reading consistent then can cut down lor... stable tank less often ...

you can check sponsors like Madpetz or AM http://www.madpetz.com.sg/index.php I usually buy at AM .. they have API and Salifert just go to their website and surf for test kits... have a feel of what's in the market ba API is for basic test to me.... I use salifert if want a bit more accurate. nowadays price for test kits drop alot ... most are ard $10+ - $20+ for a start test for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, PH, phosphate, silicate, dKH & calcium ba

test kits somehow can come up to quite an amount maybe can also consider those that come in a set
