WTB: Blue Florida Ricordea Wanted
cutebarra77 replied to cutebarra77's topic in Sell off/Pasar Malam Shop
Do u know the reason why these two colors have lower success than the rest? I mean assuming under optimum water and temp conditions. seems like blue and green are very delicate types. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk -

Thanks for the suggestion, sunny. But I'm not sure of the local market rate. Based on what I have found from the US sites, the price it is going is about US50 for a head. What do u think? Any purchase experience before? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk -

Thanks, solo77. Do u mean asking them to import in for me? I did not see any when I was there. -
Dear reefers, appreciate any info offered... think these delicate soft corals would not survive the trip from US if I were to buy direct from those US sellers... Thanks

Oddball / Predatory Tank Questions
cutebarra77 replied to bane's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Wah! Your lion very lucky...eat 'restaurant' food everyday...mine go 'kopitiam' only. Are there substantial research to prove that live freshwater food is no good? Fr nutrition angle, yes, everyday eat the same type of food has limited 'vitamins and minerals'...hence, I will bring my lions to go 'restaurant' once a month - chromis or damsels... All the best with your new lion. -
Oddball / Predatory Tank Questions
cutebarra77 replied to bane's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Hi Bane, are you serious abt getting a volitan? I have a volitan (20cm from mouth to tail) and a spotted fin lion (15cm from mouth to tail) up for adoption. They have been with me since July 2011 and I bought them from CF. Giving them up as they are growing too fast (overfed by me) and my 3ft tank is getting too small for them... BUT, they are feeding on live freshwater glass shrimps since day 1 and they may have been 'spoilt'. Keen? I am willing to let them go for a can of heineken. Collection is ard Jurong West area. where is the collection point?

Kaudern's Cardinal Fish Spawning
cutebarra77 replied to cutebarra77's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Many thanks for the inputs, Joe and Lemon. I have done some check on artificial egg incubator (fr Joe's advice) and indeed found it a bit too challenging for me to try and with the risk involved. Quite difficult to catch the male as I have too many rocks in my tank. and I worried that the male will spit out the eggs during the catching process. Hence, I have decided to try natural incubation instead. Another friend of mine suggested that I build a 'mock' urchin with long spikes using satay sticks and placed it at a 'safe' spot for the male to release the fry. This idea is quite sound and working on it... I would definitely share my experiment and findings from this experience. -
Hi reefers, My pair of cardinals have successfully mated and the male is carrying the nice orangey eggs in his mouth. He has grew very thin and must be darn hungry protecting the eggs... With some desk research done, it seemed that my 2 long spike urchins are able to offer some protection for the fry when they hatch. My 3ft tank has many live rocks which added to the challenge of trying to catch the cardinals and transfer them into a breeding tank. Right now as it is, there are many potential predators ard eyeing the fry when they hatch... Appreciate fellow reefers' advice.

My Volitany and Spotty Lions
cutebarra77 replied to cutebarra77's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Thanks for the compliments. I was at CF yesterday and came across a young whitish Volitan Lionfish. Its long fins were white color with dark strips (looked more like a white tiger than lion), almost wanted to get it... Could this be one of the albino types? or the youngs of the volitan family all looked like this? They will get darker coloration when older? -

Reefers, thanks for the inputs and you people were right. The algae I'm referring too is indeed red and purple coralline algae. And yes, tons of resources in YouTube on growing them. Many thanks. Time to take some action now. -

Yes. This is the type of purple 'pigment' I'm referring to. The red stuff is another. -
Can Clown SweetLips be kept in pairs?
cutebarra77 replied to cutebarra77's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Maybe I was not not clear with my words. When I said 'half clown, half sweetlip', its purely from its appearance angle. This is not because of the research efforts. The research which I'm referring to is pertaining to keeping clown sweetlip in captivity and more geared towards providing info. relating to keeping them in pairs. Hope this clarifies. -

Agreed with you on the taste part, Johan. I have tried a sweetlip from my fishing trip before... Very limited online info on the experiences of keeping more than 1... -

Optimus, the great Autobots leader, any tips to grow a more handsome or pretty lion? Did anyone attempt to breed?
