  8. as much as substrate is concern. I will go for substrate. DSB of about 4-6inch. basically http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/filtersfiltrationsetup/a/aadsbdiscussion.htm i prefer the natural sea look. and if you like keeping wrasse. a sand bed is more healthy for them. some wrasse in my friend's tank which is bottomless either jump off the tank, or dies in the tank for no valid reasons.
  9. has it opened before? or was it newly introduced? i had mine for quite sometime until suddenly it doesn't open. I took it and face the wavemaker to blow away all the 'dust' on top of it. after then it open up in a few days.
  10. http://www.discoverychannelasia.com/tv-shows/reefrescuers Discovery Channel, Thursday 30th May. 7pm In April this year, 134 divers came together for an epic eco-assignment in East Malaysia, organised as part of theBeautiful Malaysia environmental project. Heeding the call for conservation, divers across Malaysia, Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand and even as far away as France, United Kingdom, USA, Lithuania, and Switzerland, rallied at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, for an underwater clean-up. Dive in with the REEF RESCUERS and witness the intricacies and challenges of this project and meet some of the passionate people who lent a hand to make a difference. The event, which clocked 168 consecutive hours and took seven days, made it into the Guinness World Records for the longest underwater clean-up. The Beautiful Malaysia project is initiated by Astro Kasih with the aim of raising awareness on the importance of preserving the environment for future generations.
  11. go buy seawater and replace your self-mix saltwater. try to get a bigger home for those fish that are going to outgrow your tank. (sell/give or upgrade your tank)
  12. look at this size, there must be alot smaller ones and eggs around as well. better treat the colony and neighbouring ones as well. with coral rx or lugol solution will be excellent
  13. it is purely for design purpose? or anything to do with the nature of reef?
  14. i suppose its telling u its hungry
  15. the link for resun seems semi broken, for hailea u can see http://www.hailea.com/e-hailea/product1/HC-150A.htm as your reference
  16. wow, cool man! ur explaination of the new chiller running 1degree lower than the old one strikes me. (let me try running it at 27 over the weekend and see how it goes.) Thanks
  17. i tihnk at least double the price of a china make.
  18. i read that carbon usage over prolong period will leech trace elements and cause the hlle? or hole in the head disease. not sure the culprit is carbon, but my yellowshoulder had some holes in the head after 3months of carbon usage, which i used to remove the yellow tint in water. now i removed the carbon already.
  19. i dont know the course, but the brand new part b will have the white deposit form up at the cap. i still using it.
  20. u mean both chillers should rest the same hours which is 2hrs base on using the 1/4teco. i m no aircon man but the only reason i can think of is that the coils or reserviour is maintained at the chilled temp more effectively for a longer period using a bigger sized chiller. u can come to have a tea and sit for few hours to help solve the puzzle. and do anyone notice got condensation form up at the glass of the tank? weather has been rather hotter than usual. my neighbour face this too, anyone else? (temp set at 26) night time rest hours still maintain, daytime shorten >_<
  21. I don't wanna start another thread about ro/di, so i'm gonna dig this up, I have a ro/di (not sure the brand, looks very big to me with more than 5 cylinders and a big body.) used for drinking at home. can they be used for aquarium as well? thanks
