previously, my elcb tripped together wif another breaker when there's a loud thunder. So I looked at the house electrical drawing and zoomed down to the few electrical power outlets. So got a certified local electrician to check. Opened the electrical outlets cover n told me some sloppy jobs done by hdb. Somehow there were some unused dangling wires that had their ends wrapped in insulation tape. The tape are too thin n somehow it will cause the trip. He just wrapped my tape over and solved the problem. After some time later, I again encountered power trip. But now only my elcb tripped. So googled online n found pple had similar symptoms n so just replace the elcb. So far so gd. Elcb old Liao, sensitive to thunder.

Second hand shop for marine equipment (Tank, skimmer, etc..)
LittleBurger replied to Shawnsp's topic in Product Reviews
some Lfs such as ah beng, aunty shop in front of ah beng sells 2nd hand aquarium stuff. For tanks, there's a freshwater aquarium after pet movers in pasir ris. Sometimes I see old tanks over at the "back". Cash converters also deals with 2nd hand. U can try to set up a shop tat deals purely on aquarium but your profit margin might not cover your rental. There are times when pple decom n sell the stuff in the pasar malam. Do a search I think u can find few months back got pple sell off 5-6ft tanks. -
I think target feel will have greater success but also greater failure when you fail to do so ie get posted to overseas for few wks. So I prefer auto feeding the food and let the water flow bring the food to them. However it is extremely difficult to make sure all polyps will get the food. Can only let the organisms grow and adjust itself to the flow and how the food is being delivered to them.

does other breakers also trip with elcb? If only elcb then u can suggest to hdb to replace your elcb to verify since they dun know wat to do next. At least they do something to verify. Reason wif them I think they will be willing to do this test.

yo bro. Not sure we have talk on this when we exchange the frags. How old is yr flat? My case is bit similar as yrs but I didn't check my neighbors if they have trip as well. So when at work, I heard a loud thunder, my balls shrink. Touch wood but after I change my elcb, so far so gd. Just take a pic of yr elcb n go sim lim tower, level 3, left or right shop of the going down escalator. Much cheaper than getting the service of an electrician.

one gamma of mine has been wif me from at least 2004 till now. -
it's not from their mouth of the corals, but from the sides of their skeleton. So I doubt it's waste.

Setting up shop for a Rimless 3by3by2
LittleBurger replied to LittleBurger's topic in Members Tank & Specs
Return pumps each have a tee off to send water to skimmer compartment to maintain optimal water level for skimmer. -
Setting up shop for a Rimless 3by3by2
LittleBurger replied to LittleBurger's topic in Members Tank & Specs
Decided to do a prototype of direct feed of drain water to skimmer input. Wanted to just allow expected water to be processed by the skimmer and excess water to go to the refugium. Using a normal nylon filter sock. Will not be using the 200um filter sock as the nylon sock can prevent debris from entering skimmer pump. Got a green bucket(daiso) and use an old flexible tube from macro skimmer. http://s160.photobucket.com/user/waterbottle_23/media/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0070_zpsgmnzshy0.jpg.html] http://s160.photobucket.com/user/waterbottle_23/media/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0070_zpsgmnzshy0.jpg.html] Cut a circular hole on the bucket and install the hose connector. http://s160.photobucket.com/user/waterbottle_23/media/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0071_zpsv8ocyiqm.jpg.html]http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t172/waterbottle_23/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0071_zpsv8ocyiqm.jg Use an empty supplement container to mate the flexible hose to the skimmer pump http://s160.photobucket.com/user/waterbottle_23/media/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0072_zpsgsbpvpsp.jpg.html] http://s160.photobucket.com/user/waterbottle_23/media/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0073_zpspadyogo3.jpg.html] http://s160.photobucket.com/user/waterbottle_23/media/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0074_zpshipsbeim.jpg.html] Hooked up the bucket and skimmer http://s160.photobucket.com/user/waterbottle_23/media/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0075_zpsm4qkbmbp.jpg.html] To do this direct feed, I try to make sure the bucket is not overflow. So closed the gate valve. More flow will also be directed to refugium. However, the water level will drop in my skimmer compartment which affect the water level of skimmer. As I have existing tee off from my return pumps(previously use for fluid reactors), I directed the water flow to the skimmer compartment(the directed water are from the refugium. -
actually Im not sure if wat I saw at the lfses with the brown gooey stuff attach to the rock and part of them floating upwards is the brown jelly disease. Have u seen them at our lfses tanks?
-
When u go lfs, have u ever see brown jelly around some of the corals? Are these some eggs mass of something or the killer brown slime?
-
im having a mixed reef so I use carbon. Some swear by it, some dun feel there's any impact. But carbon has much more pros n little bit con(HLLE). But doesn't mean u use carbon yr fish will have HLLE. Previously affect blue tang more.
-
some pple run ac 24/7, while some run occasionally. Carbon can neutralise toxins so pple use them. When yr water has the yellow tint, running carbon can remove the tint. Seems like can remove no3 as well. But studies has show carbon particles cause HLLE head line lateral erosion, something like tat. So I use carbon in a bag rather than tumbling cos im concern if the friction will slowly grind the carbon bits to some powder.
-
Ac is activated carbon. Maybe u need to observe the rate the ultraphos turns yellow, ie when yr po4 drops to zero, does it still turn yellow? Also depends on the po4 input to your tank. If u feed alot, then naturally yr ultraphos will exhaust faster.
-
maybe u need to check yr po4 level to verify if the media is really turning yellow too fast. Refugium to remove po4 I suppose can but slower than chemical filtration.
-
depends on how big is your tank. Pple chooses vortech is the flow is very strong and when running 2 of them can run in nutrient export mode meaning the water is very chaotic and will bring up the dirt that are rested on your lr. But u still need to use a turkey baster to blow at certain areas on the rocks that are inaccessible by the waves. Your rock scape also play an important role in water flow. Both types of wavemakers requires u to have unblock wave path, meaning no obstruction facing the pump as possible. I dun own a wavebox only vortechs. After reading the comparisons online, wavebox flow is weaker compare to a mp40 but the wave generated by wavebox is nicer. Aesthetically vortech has a smaller footprint. Motor is not inside water, but not sure heat dissipation for wavebox is high anot.
-
so I assume I use it less often than u guys. So any other brand u using?
-
there is a comparison between vortech n tunze wavebox. Vortech's flow coverage is wider than the wavebox. Both can generate waves. But I feel waves generated by wavebox is nicer meaning the swaying is like 1sec to left then 1 sec right. Vortech is half sec left and half second right. So corals under tunze give the feel of rest n relax. Under vortech gives kancheong feel.

Strange. Where do u store this? I bought 2 last year. Cannot remember the date. But quite some time already and the texture still the same.
-
For those are looking for this. Just saw today at daiso bukit panj.
-
i can break another for u. I looking for sps, if u have any type of fibre optic will be great.
