finally starting my 5ft fowlr, some advise needed
yeo99 replied to derrickyeo's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Nice rock color, time to slowly add the angels you want. Think through, the sequence and the type of angels and also the size that you want to keep. Look forward for more pictures. -
I committed the cardinal sin of reefkeeping..
yeo99 replied to kaykay's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Uv light must use a new tube one, after certain hours of use, the uv tube become not effective. Feed the fishes well too. -

It depends on what type of tanks. For reef tank, it is advisable to have sand. Keep fishes that does not bomb a lot, tangs are out and angels are out too. Less feeding type of fishes, less dirty in the sands. Coral foods are not so dirty as compared with pellets. So if you are keeping reef tanks, try to choose the fishes that required not to feed a lot, such as clownfish, dart fish, Cardinalfish, etc. If you look at the display tank in any lfs, you will notice the fishes in the tank are slim not fat, eg AM, etc. For FOWLR tank, no sand are recommended as you tend to fish B21 bomber type of fish.

What fishes you have? Normally tang and angel like seaweed. The other type of fish less interested in seaweed.
-
If you are keeping angels, lists what you want to keep., plan the sequence to introduce and the smallest size and shy one should go in first.

The reason is during hot days not this time of the year, the room temperature can go to 31 to 32, the tank temperature can go to 32 with all the equipments, I want to maintain at 30 so not to stress the fishes. I think the fish color depends not only the temperature, depends on many factors such as water quality, foods, diseases, etc. Good to see more people going into FOWLR so we can discuss more....
-
Nice to more and more people going into FOWLR tank. How about wave maker? It is also important to have in a FOWLR tank. My tank is a bare bottom tank, easier to maintain. Temperature : I have a chiller but set it to very high about 30C.

how long can fish live wuthout eating?
yeo99 replied to sanhas's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Not only venetus angel, butterfly is also very challenging to feed, even with mysis shrimps.... -
Nice tank. Not easy for a tank that have no sump. It also shows that sumpless tank with only canister is possible. What is the maintenance likes?

I also have some experience, brought expensive fish more than 200, that is expensive . Within 48 hours the fish dies. It is not feeding well at all. I suggest the following SOP: 1. Only buy fish that is in the display tank not in the Betta box or another tank. This is because you can observe the movement of the fish when it is allowed to swim freely and the appearance of the fish. You can always come back the next day to collect when the fish is caught once you put a deposit. 2. Always ask the owner to on the light so that you can see clearly the fish's appearance when the light on. 3. Check the tank water salinity level. Make sure the tank is not on hypo salinity treatment. Hypo salinity treatment means diseases in the tank.. 4. Bring your own pellets and try to feed the fish with your own pellets. This is to see whether it is feeding well or not. 5.Do not trust the member grade in the forum. Senor member should not means his fish is good and stable Sometimes newbie fish are more stable. 6. Do not trust the seller saying that the fish have been in the tank for months. They are just salesman.

Both types are adult already. I can find why there is this differences on the eyespot. Chances is what you say.

I realised some of the blue face angel have a eyespot at the caudal end of the dorsal fin and some does not. A eyespot at the caudal end of the dorsal fin: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=15+18+405&pcatid=405 No eyespot at the caudal end of the dorsal fin: http://www.aquariumdomain.com/viewSpeciesMarine.php?id=14# Any reasons? Thanks

What happen to my French???
yeo99 replied to Speedwagon's topic in Disease treatment/parasite/pest control
Is the French angel a new fish? It is external bacterial inflection. Is it eating? Continue with copper treatment for a least 3 weeks or more. -
Stil looking

I think to be fair, I think she should not charge the transport cost to the next buyer, the next buyer have to pay for the transport cost to his home. Of cause, still willing buyer, willing seller. All the best.

I am looking for stable Fame Angel, preferably kept for 4mths and above, It must be pellet eating. If you have one for sale, please pm me. Willing to pay slightly more than that in the LFS. Thanks

http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum/showthread.php/71127-Eco-quarium-LED-light-tube-for-Freshwater-aquarium http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum/showthread.php/71163-DIY-Modification-of-T8-FL-lighting-fixture-to-LED-light See the second website, it is the same as I used theAquaZonic 2 ft black to modify to LED T98 tube that brought from the InWares LED costs $50 for tube alone before the discounts he give later. Still very good condition, LED will last very long time, no direct contract with the salt water block by the cover of the casing.
