Hi all, I've 2 peppermint shrimp to sell at $10 each. Size about 1~1.5 inch. Do note that they might not be reef safe as I've caught them hanging out at my rics and SPS at night. So far both rics and SPS are okie. Collect at Sembawang. Interested pls call/SMS me at 9 7 6 7 6 9 5 0.

My is a fairy wrasse. That's why easier for the crab to catch it. It's about 1.5inch iirc.

Half black Angelfish Eating...
kira76 replied to superior1's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Hi bro, can I check where you get ur half black from? Any idea if it can be kept with a flame angel? Will they fight? -
Ah, I see. Sure is a wonderful continuous feeder. But does it requires lots of modification to the FR?
-
Woh, sounds good. Care to share some pics so that we can have a better idea?

The crab about 1 inch. Was eating my acan, I try catching it, it went to where my wrasse was sleeping, my fav wrasse thus became a victim of opportunity. Acanthastrea, though I'm not sure if it's A. echinata or A. lordhowensis. Though I suspect that mine are A. echinata

Good luck hunting the crabs. Totally understand how u feel. I took 2 months to go crab hunting cos they were eating my acans! One of them even took out my favorite fairy wrasse in front of me!

No, you should never add tap water without treating with anti chlorine first and yes, it will kill ur good bacteria if the tap water is not treated with anti chlorine.

I'm not sure if the place have it but it's some air con place. Got the address from this forum too. It's near Singapore casket. Maybe can search for external temp controller to get the add. I think sim lim tower have also. But it's all DIY. Unless you wanna pay. I think chill down have plug and play one.
-
I never try that before but I think shouldn't be a problem. Maybe other bros can give advice. I'm more curious as to what's the reason your wet side turn. Have you check the sponge on the wet side? If it have lost it's friction, thus causing a lost of girp on the glass.

If I remember correctly, the pins are in measurement of inches, not mm. What's ur current pin setting now? In mm or inches?
-
You mean temp probe or temp controller? Cos the controller will on/off ur chiller while the probe is the physical object that sense the temp. I DIY my external temp controller and got my temp controller from this air con shop along bendimeer while the rest of the accessories from sim lim tower. No need to disable the sensor in the chiller. Just have to set the chiller to a much lower temp.

Reading through this post kinda remind me of my reefing journey 7 months back. But lucky for me, I've been keeping Aro for a few years, so have some basic water chemistry knowledge. My personnal 0.00002 cents advice is to first understand some basic water chemistry. For both fresh and salt water, understanding the nitrogen cycle is important. This will keep your livestock alive. Secondly, more importantly for marine, research on marine water chemistry like the relationship of calcium, managisum and kh. Once you understand these, then you'll know why everyone says bigger is better. One of the biggest headache I had when I started was the control of algea. I realize that unless your tank is very lightly stock, algea will be a problem. So, other than a skimmer, you might want to consider biopellets to reduce nitrate and po4 removing media like rowapro. Of cos, these would require a fluid reactor each. The next bigger problem is water temperature due to the weather here in SG. If you're going FOWLR, then, it's not so much a concern, but with corals, esp those super sensitive ones, then the temp have to be maintained constant. My tank temp is always maintained at a constant 25 degrees. I would advice try not to use tap water if can, this is due to the presents of nitrate, silicon and other elements that might be undesirable. I use distiller water delivery to my house. $8 for a 19 lit bottle. Usually use 1 or 2 bottles per week, so cost wise, about $64 per month, this is excluding salt mix cost. I don't think anyone buy distiller water from LFS. we usually buy NSW from LFS. But i think usually it's the farms that sells NSW. it's cheaper, at about $2~ $4 for about 20 lit, iirc. But the problem is lugging back 20 lit of water is no joke. Even for me who drive, I gave up after 2 tries. Would rather have distiller water delivery to my doorstep. Hope I don't add to your confusion and happy reefing.

Lol, cos MP40 night mode the wave smaller, not as strong as when in normal mode. Also do check what is the percentage drop that your Mp40 is running in night mode. I can't remember what's the default setting liao.
-
Hehehe, what I mean is one of the light switch in my house is faulty, i.e. sometimes when the light switch is turn off, it will trip my whole house. Nothing to do with the aquarium or the MP40. That's why I gave up setting the night mode for my MP40. What I do is sometimes I change the MP40 from short pulse mode (usual mode setting) to NTM or RCM over the night and switch back to short pulse in the morning again.
-
Actually, I was told by Ken that there's 2 version. The one that you mention from Dymax and another shorter one.
-
Hi, I'm interested in the 2 tube T5 light set. But need to know the length of the T5 set first. Thanks.
-
I gave up on using the night mode. My house power will occasionally trip due to a suspected faulty light switch, luckily usually when there's ppl in the house. And the timing for the night mode will need to be reset again once power is cut to the MP40. You might want to take note of that.

Can try MadPetz. Think I saw something similar.

Lol. Of cos on 24/7 lah. Paid so much for it, don't on 24/7 like a bit waste money leh. Besides, the wave in sea got stop one meh?

U see the marking on the space where they indicate the glass thickness? Just ensure that the power cord from ur dry side is in line to the marking which indicate ur glass thickness before fitting the spacer into ur dry side. Hope this helps.

Just check the MP40WES manual online. Make sure ur spacer is set to 1/2" for 12mm thickness glass.
