Reason for putting the condersor there is because I do not have anymore real estate. I was advised by Chilldown that it won't be a problem but I had to cover the back and top of the condensor if not the hot air might get suck in back by the condensor. Thus when the condensor kicks in, the hot air can only come out from one way. Please refer to the pic attached. I am quite confident with Chilldown but if someone really finds that this is wrong, do let me know and I'll bring it back to Chilldown. Don't want my money to go down the drain~

Hopefully the arowana don't jump out!!! It already did once from the old tank " Had been with me for around 10 years In the future, I was hoping to tear down both tank and make a 8 ft length tank ...dream on~ lol. Hi bro, Thanks for the info. I do notice lotsa micro bubbles when the water from the outflow goes into the sump tank. However upon reaching the side of the return pump, the micro bubbles seem to had dissolve as I can't see them anymore. My protein skimmer is Deltec and is external meaning it would be sitting outside the sump tank? Correct me if I'm wrong. How does a bubble traps looks like? Just some filter sponge media? The chiller has to sit there because the whole thing is too tall (The coil) unless I cut away some part of the rear cabinet. Regarding about limited real estate for coral placement at the top, I think I'll have to make do with it until after starting of June to make changes and get live stocks. Too busy with work at the moment zzz.

THanks ketchup!!! but I already have them sitting in my room with SVS PB13. Kinda overkill and crazy to run two subs in a small room Was actually going to check with you guys what amp you all using. Anyway, back to topic..is the heat emitted by the condensor very hot? I will be installing it beside my tank in the living room facing a wall.

Equipment for 4ft X 2ft X 2.5ft tank
JL2309 replied to JL2309's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Hi guys, After doing some research on my own and gathering feedback/information from all around, I had came up with this list which will surely burn a big hole in my pocket . As such, I would not want to buy anything wrongly at all. I had decided to stick to a height of 2ft (One day might try SPS)as advised by many and I hope that the many seniors here can take a look at the equipment I had chosen and give feedback if it is suitable (Too strong/too weak)or should I change to something else. This tank is surely going to stay in my house until the day it crack as I won't have any space left to upgrade to a bigger size tank. As such, I had decided to go with "good" equipment so that I won't have to keep on upgrading which might end up spending more. Tank: 4ft X 2ft X 2ft (12mm thickness glass, Only front panel - Crystal clear glass) Sump: 42ins X 18ins X 15/20ins Pump: 2 X Eheim 1264 (For 2 inlet) Skimmer: Deltec TC1655 1 X Deltec FR 509 with pump Chiller: Pending (If house enough space will go for condensor) Lighting: Pending Thank you all. -

Bro, noted on your comment about the lighting. However, I was told by some that it will be enough to keep sps too(which right now I'm not intending to). -

JL2309 replied to JL2309's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Hi, thanks for clarifying on the skimmer. You mentioned that the maxspec will not be too strong for the coral but will it be enough/suitable for coral on the sand bed? Thanks -
Equipment for 4ft X 2ft X 2.5ft tank
JL2309 replied to JL2309's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Hi guys, Pls advise on the following: 1) For pump, which is better: Eheim 1264 or Eden 159? Price about the same but heard that Eden 159 got more power? 2) For skimmer, which is suitable for my tank 4 X 2 X 2.5: Deltec 1655 or 2060? If Deltec 2060, should I take internal or external? What are the difference? External free up more space for the sump but require an extra pump to run it? 3) Lighting I'm planning for Max Spec G2-160w x 2 set. Would it be strong enough for light hunger coral if place at bottom section of tank? Thanks. -

Equipment for 4ft X 2ft X 2.5ft tank
JL2309 replied to JL2309's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Haa. No problem. Anyway, I understand from your tank thread that you are facing problem using Artica dbe200 due to heat given out by your lightings. I guess my lightings will be the same as yours or stronger because of ht 2.5ft. Do you think I should go for a bigger size chiller for efficient cooling? Maybe artica dbm 250? Experts pls help. Thanks -

oh...thanks for correcting me. Cause I saw from the thread is listed as 1. "LOW-IRON GLASS TANK WITH EXTERNAL OVERFLOW COMPARTMENT Size: 48†x 30†x 24†(LxWxH" ehh.. I'll try my best as I'm bad at taking photos...else I would have kept memories of my sixteen 1 ft tanks by taking pics. Bro, thanks! -

YO Bro, I think now I'm facing the issue of having a tank of ht 2.5ft but your tank is ht 2ft. So...your lighting might not be sufficient for my tank height? Will read through your whole thread and see how it goes. Thanks. -

JL2309 replied to JL2309's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Hi all, Thank you for all the information and advice given. I do understand that it will be hard to maintain a 2.5ft height tank in terms of maintenance and lighting issue as informed by so many forumers. However, I had always wanted to get a bigger tank compare to my old tank (4 x 2 x 2). Due to space constraint, I am only able to increase the ht. zzzz I will be checking with DE Lightings to get a light system that is able to support 2.5ft height tank. Regarding maintenance, I will be getting help from professional to lay the LR (Planning 70kg)and will not be doing much scaping after that unless necessary. Please please please do not take it as I do not listen to advice but it is just what I want and I am prepare to spend more money on it (Lightings) and more labour work (Maintenance). Really thank you for all the bros' valuable advices. Thank you all. -
Equipment for 4ft X 2ft X 2.5ft tank
JL2309 replied to JL2309's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Not possible to increase the width to 2.5 as it will be blocking part of my main door . Mum will chop me into pieces for blocking her god of fortune from coming in (Feng Sui). lol Didn't know that the price of Reef Octopus and Deltec so big big difference. In terms of performance, is there really a big difference? If not, I will just stick to Reef Octopus and save money for other items. Thanks again. -
Equipment for 4ft X 2ft X 2.5ft tank
JL2309 replied to JL2309's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
YO Bro, thanks for your quick reply. I will still stick to the height of 2.5ft so that I am able to keep more livestock. I'm prepare to "sacrifice" for that extra 0.5ft height. If I were to use Deltec for my skimmer, any recommended model pls? For lighting, any recommendation for my tank so that I won't regret later and need to buy a better one? You mentioned T5 supplement, meaning I need 2MH + another set of T5 lightings or is there any model that come in set? Not planning for SPS at the moment until I get more experience over the years. Many thanks for your advise. -
Hi all, I am planning to start my very first marine tank. I will be getting a 4ft X 2ft X 2.5ft tank with a sump tank. I'm thinking of buying the following equipment: (i) Pump - Eheim 1264 (ii) Chiller - Arctica DBE-200 (iii) Skimmer - Thinking of Deltec/ Reef Octopus (Any model recommendation pls as I had never used a skimmer in my life) (iv) Lighting - 2 X 150W MH (Brand: SunSun) - Is this a good lighting system. Think cost about $900/-. Worth it? (v) Wavemaker - Looking at Vortech mp40 or mp60 (vi) Sand - Hawaiian black Aragonite sand Please advise if the equipment would be fine to run the tank efficiently. Thank you all.
