  1. Wa bro, whats your maintenance schedule like? Weekly water change?
  2. Thank you bros again for your kind advise. Think the answer is clear and I will continue to operate my wavemaker. Thanks!
  3. Hi bro, have been using this settings since around Oct. Can see the zoas open up all the way and no stretching of the polyps. Previously was only around 6 inch away from the tank. Now is at 10 inch from the tank. I prefer around 5-6 hours of full light for the corals to absorb them.
  4. For me, I set: 4pm 0 0 4.30 75 80 10.00 75 80 10.30 0 80 11.30 0 0 I started the lights at 4.30 so by the time i reach home at around 7, I can see the corals fully open. From 4.30 to 10, I can have full lighting strength. From 10.30 to 11.30, i can enjoy when my corals glowing from 10.30 to 11.30.
  5. Mine is at 75:80 and i am monitoring my coral's reaction. The height is at 10 inch above water.
  6. Nice and lots of LPS! I also bought the same clam from Aquamarin today, have yours open up widely yet?
  7. Some updates on my tank: Skimmer has skim very dark brown since Saturday when I last cleared the cup. I have also cut out a piece of board and placed at an angle to prevent salt spray from the drain pipe. The water which lands on the bottom of the board will drip back into the sump with the angle. I have also placed LR, biohome and rowaphos (in stockings) from my previous tank. Temperature is constant at 28 degrees with cooling fan.
  8. Have not open fully yet and can see abit torn at the right side. Probably nip by fish? The birdnest on the right is dead due to me overdosing seachem paraguard wiping out and damaging a few corals and fish in my old tank.
  9. Thanks, guess I will drop the idea of adding any tang to my nano to prevent stressing them.
  10. Rimless means that you do not have any brace at the top of your tank to hold the front and back glass which are parallel to each other. For my FW tank, with 8mm, I can see the glass slightly bend. Therefore, the safest thickness of glass for saltwater which is slightly heavier than FW will be min 10mm. My current 42cm cube tank is using 8mm glass.
  11. Aquamarin is at Jalan Selaseh, off Yio Chu Kang Rd. Very near to Jalan Kayu. http://www.aquamarin.com.sg/contactus.asp
  12. Just gotten a crocea from aquamarin at 35 bucks, about 3 inch across. Still got about 5 more I think. Just nice to fit my nano tank!
  13. Thank your bros for all your valuable comments, keep them coming!
  14. If yes, why? I understand that the ocean has continuous flow but will the flow from the wavemaker affect the fishes or corals sleeping at night? Need your views please! Thanks!
  15. For the eheim pump, I will recommend seaview at seletar farmway. I have bought many equipments from seaview for my freshwater tank as it is quite near to my house and I can take my time to walk around the whole shop, the size of a warehouse. They mostly sell freshwater equipments and not much marine equipments sold.
  16. I am using BSI Gel. You just need to put a ball of glue below the frag plug, and quickly place it into the water and hold it there for 20-30 seconds. The glue will turn white once it touches water.
  17. Thanks bro! With proper planning, you will make your reef successful! I started with a GEX glassterior 300 at only 13 litres and manage to keep the corals and fishes alive since June, that is where i started to work on a proper tank. Wish you luck!
  18. I see, thanks for the info! My cyclopeeze have been flowing into the overflow if I do not switch off my return pump. Haha.
  19. Nice! Do you target feed them as I read online that sun coral needs target feeding? Where you bought and how much?
  20. I didn't know the royal gramma is as aggressive as the dottyback! Think I will not be getting them anymore. Hmm, ok I will consider that.
  21. Thanks Aquareefer. I am thinking of adding a pair of true percular clowns. What other fish or invertebrates would you all recommend? I will not be buying yellow tail damsel and bicolour dottyback as they gave me hell in my previous tank and caused an ich outbreak. The bicolour dottyback basically nips every fish that gets near its rock and stress out every fish.
  22. Its ok bro. We all learn from mistake. Remember to wear gloves when moving LR and handling corals. I kena sting by bristle worm before and have a hard time removing the bristles from my finger. After that, I went to daiso to get the $2 gloves.
  23. How about a Bubble Magus Curve 5 or curve 7 for your tank. I bought the Curve 5 for my tank and quite like it even though it is rated for 500litres. The skimmer started skimming the junk after about 2 hours of running. It is also very silent and runs at only 8w. The footprint is 18.5cm x 18cm. Therefore, a 20cm x 20cm will be enough for this skimmer. The only sound coming out from my cabinet is the drain pipe but it is still very silent.
