  1. What I did when moving from my cube tank to my current tank was I try to squeeze as much dead rock in the sump as possible to seed them. Once my tank was ready, I just moved all the rocks to the new tank with dead rocks in the display so that this will ensure there are no pest in the display. However, this will take some time for the dead rocks to be live. The rocks with the pests like bristtle worms are added to the sump. I will remove them when I see them roaming around.
  2. My cheato also failed the first time. It was quite messy as it broke down and went to my pump. My lightings are from 11.30pm to 7am. Think i bought too strong par38 grow light at 21w. Lol. Now my sump have only live rocks with a coral banded shrimp and a turbo snail to clear up the algae on the glass and rocks.
  3. Do you have a coral banded shrimp? My purple fire fish was stripped down to bones in a day by this shrimp.
  4. From the way the algae grows, it looks like it could likely be from your lightings from top down. Try reducing the lighting period or the light intensity. How far is your lights away from your tank? Mine is 1ft away from the water and I am running 40% white and 55% blue to ensure maximum output with the lowest heat from the lights. Mine starts from 3.30pm to 11.30pm but the first hour is only white light and the last hour is only blue lights. Not sure about how your hydra works though.
  5. I have 2 fans running an hour and switching off for an hour 24/7. I always top up a pail of water every 4 - 5 days. Should be around 20 litres a pail.
  6. For my 3.5 ft, I have 1 tuxedo urchin, 3 turbo snails and probably around 10 or more nassarius snail. I have 1 turbo snails in my refugium as I on the light in the refugium from 11.30pm to 7am daily. 1 urchin should be enough as previously, my urchin eat into my silicon at the corners of my tank. 3 turbo snails is good enough to clean up my rocks and glass as I want to make sure they do not starve to death if there are not enough algae. The nassarius will usually come out when I feed mysis shrimp and they will usually roam when the lights are out. I have 1 coral banded shrimp in my refugium as he ate my purple firefish, lol.
  7. still can, replace the www with m to change it to a mobile site. Liveaquaria is useful as I always check there before buying my fishes.
  8. Just to check, do you run a wavemaker in your tank?
  9. My yellow tang do not eat from the glass unless the diatom becomes very thick. He will go after it when I use a magnet cleaner to clear it from the glass.
  10. You can try 2 Jebao Rw series wave maker which I think is adequate for my tank. Not sure for the maxspect gyre though.
  11. I always go T95 along Seletar Farmway 1 since it is nearer to my house.
  12. I am using nassarius snail and they usually dig into the sand. Then when I feed, they will come out from the sand, take the food and dig into the sand and rest. At night they will move around and will sift through the sand and will clear some of the diatom.
  13. it depends, if the cheato is dying, they will break off and will jam up your return pump or go into your display tank.
  14. I like the Maxspect as the slim profile looks really nice for the tank and I am currently using it. If budget allows, you may want to go for the AI Hydra. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Thanks all. Tank was collected yesterday and full payment made. Thread close.
  16. Bought 5 packs of corals from T95, they are zoas, mushroom, open brain, anemone and the last should be favia. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. No vents as Vincent mention it was not easy to make. Therefore no vents and I only made the vents at the side. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Maxspect lighting with aluminium hanger. Sump area. Completed tank. Completed tank and tank cabinet. All corners around the ceiling and floor area are filled with white silicon. Tank view from house to door entrance. Tank view from side. Tank view from door entrance into house. My fishes love the nori from NTUC!! Mushroom corals. They are really easy even when my tank goes up to 30 degrees at time. Trying to maintain the tank at 29 degrees. The candy cane coral was with me for more than a year., bought from iwarna. I face some difficulty in making the rocks higher as it is a 3 sided tank and I am limiting the tank to 1.5ft width. I am training my powder blue and blue tang in the sump to eat pellets, mysis and nori as I have just finished copper treatment in another tank for them. And thats all for now! 22. @SimonLSB: not really bro, just that I always like to have a big marine tank like the bros here but space is a constraint at my house and I always hear about the high running cost of a marine tank. So i started with a 1.5ft cube to try out with proper equipments n no chiller and seems like not much failures except for corals dying likely due to heat. I try to run the tank as simple and cheap as possible. I previously have a 3ft planted tank with metal stand but feels that it looks messy in the middle of nowhere. And then I saw my divider and ask my wife if i could remove to replace it and she agreed! Yeah.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Initially, I was running 1 ANS fan using ikea timer, 30mins on, 30 mins off. Temperature remains at 30 degrees. When i open the top cabinet, i can feel the heat coming out and likely is from the light and the light adaptor. I then use a screw driver to modify the top cabinet and put big rubber stoppers so when the cabinet doors at the top are close, there will be gaps around the doors. After the slight adjustment, I added another ANS fan, 1 pointing directly at the water and another around 45 degree towards the water to push out the hot air under the lights towards the opening of the cabinet. Seems like it worked and temperature now maintaining at 29 degrees. Still monitoring and see what I can do with the fans and timer. Not intending to run the fan 24/7 as they are quite loud and evaporation abit high, haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
