Is deltec better or Koralin better? I thought of buying one too, now quite undecisive between the two. I also heard that Koralin guarantee that no CO2 will leak into the water. And heard that deltec calcium is extremely effiecient.

I think I saw CF have some convict tangs from Hawali last sat. U may try to find out from them.

I would also interested but must know the price first. Could Joe P advise on that?

Maybe you are right. the flowrate must not be too fast in the culture tank but it will stimulate other unwanted bacteria... But i wonder will algae diminish these cyno? Any place or people you can recommend on rotifer? As i believe feeding live food to your SPS and fishes are very healthy and will minimise phosphate as they are living animals. Either they die naturally (eventually eaten by other bacteria or LS) or dwell on some live rocks. When feeding it in the main tank i think they will still survive for quite sometime.

Thanks for your valuable advise. I am also thinking of cross contamination when i come out with this. That is why i add in the UV to somehow kill off any bacteria before it gets to the next stage. Anyway, do you know where to get live rotifer?? or copepod? Quite difficult to get it in s'pore unless order from US.

I have read some books on this info.. Have not try it yet.. Hope to receive experts advise.

Well, I am a big fan of Antony Calfo. I remember from his book, he did mentioned on certain grade of sand are meant for certain bacteria. The following types of substrates used are have the following purposes. 1. Coarse substrate (grade 3 to 5) (encouraging amphipods and larger plankton) 2. Medium/fine substrate (grade 1 to 3) (encouring smaller live plankton species such as copepods. 3. Deepsugar fine substrate (grade 0 to 1) (enhance denitification) 4. Living sponges (filter feeder extravaganza) Suitable for refugium. To his personal experience, fine sand is best kept at the main display tank and coarse sand for refugium. Mixing is not recommended as it distracts planktons in the compromised layers. Just some extracts from his books.

I did actually read through sll, This method has been tried by this guy called DSB Heskey. Very sketical about this, as i also read about this in Boreman book on deep sand bed. He recommended a deep sand bed with about 4" sand with 1" eggcrate penum system but not using this method. The reason is the anaerobic zone will be affected. Not sure why? Failed to understand this.
