I believe some victims might feel that it is ok to just let it go, small amount of money and thinking of giving 2nd chances etc. But do bear in mind that leniency will be condoning or even encouraging this behavior. He got away with once, twice or even more attempt, then he wont stop. Think about his next potential victims, the loss might be just a little inconvenience to you but his next victim might not be so fortunate. For example, if i am a newbie who unknowingly bought his defective tank or equipment under the impression that it is in good working condition, then an accident happen, maybe the cabinet gives way and injure someone, or start a fire, then each and everyone who chooses to keep mum and stay silent, then remember you have played a part in it too. Use new sand and leave the old sand alone in the old tank. Dont stir up the existing sandbed it could release toxins, leach excess nutrients etc. Using half new rock and half old rocks is good idea, but be sure to rinse the old rocks to rid of the detritus..the old media can be transferred too. Rinsing in a separate tank water will help ensure the excess detritus wont impact your new tank. There should be a short cycle so monitor the ammonia level.

Scammer should be pretty active with frequent log on here.. maybe to scour for his next victim. I am sure he is reading this thread. If more victims come forward and make a police report then he is GG. Just keep this thread alive so more people will be aware of this low life.

Quite a dishonest seller if all these potentially catastrophic damages are not shared with you fully. To wilfully conceal these defects is truly low. The cabinet will give way and it is very dangerous. You are entitled to a full refund imo. If you are willing, I believe this community is going to stand behind you. I have bought defective 2nd hand items and even tank that leaked upon fill up before and the sellers were very steady to refund with no questions asked. I believe my experiences are the norm rather than the exception, cos the community is tight knit like that. Share the seller, lets see how we can proceed.
